I personally loved this beer. Nice oaky and bourbony flavor with hints of chocolate and coffee. Better than Dragon's Milk. Hard to find so try it if you see it if you like barrel aged beer. - check out more at www.beeriam.com

February 21, 2014 - bottle via trade. Dark pour with nice amount of head and lacing. Aroma was an odd coffee and roasted malt with the bourbon coming out as it warmed. Taste was a cheap coffee, roasted malt and mild bourbon.

Bottle at the RBWG 2014 grand tasting, thanks! Pours a cloudy dark brown with a dark brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has lots of roasted malts with notes of dark fruits and dark grains. Flavor has bitter roasted malts with dark grains, dark chocolate and a hint of dark fruit.

Bottle shared late night RBWG. Pours oily black-brown with a bubbly tan head. Good stuff, slightly inky, some good chocolate, earthy bitterness. Brownies. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, more chocolate, rich bread. Nice.

bomber bottle pours black with a decent head. Moderate barrel aging effect in the aroma, but a bit stronger than I prefer on the tongue. Lightly sweet until the finish whereafter bitterness from the hops and burnt grains comes out. Full, near chewy body.

Bottle: Thanks, Mike! Shades of dark mahogany with lighter hints of rustic brown at the edges; a slightly chunky, khaki ring forms from the foamy head after just a few moments. Aroma shows plenty of barrel aging notes; wet, oak-y bourbon, tannins, milk chocolate, faint licorice, & mild earthy finish. Not getting much coffee (this does have coffee, right?). Taste is also bourbon barrel forward in presence, but it’s far from "hot". Lots of oak, tannin, vanillin, & even hints of coconut from the barrel. Underneath lies layers of caramelized brown sugar with boozy licorice & timid cocoa in the aftertaste. It’s a little thin on the palate for an imperial stout, but not too much harm done. Wasn’t expecting much from this, but it turned out to actually be pretty good.

Had on tap at Zillies. Pours a jet black with a nice caramel head that sticks around. Served a bit cold but in a snifter so temperature can be fixed by patience. This is a big beer- tons of alcohol and all the right stout flavours happening. As full a mouthfeel as one would expect, Definitely sweet but the bourbon is done perfectly. Any more would have been like drinking a bourbon, and not a beer. Alcohol is definitely noticeable, but not necessarily too much on the palate. Well balanced and unapologetic- qualities I look for in my favorite brews.

8oz pour at Smoke and Barrel. Been chasing this around DC for a while. Pours an inky black with some spitty, brown head. Nose is very nice, lots of molasses, lots of roasted malt, some dark chocolate, vanilla, woody, some caramel. Flavor is nice too, some coffee grounds, sweet black strap molasses, a hint of black pepper and then solid barrel, wood, caramel, toast, vanilla. Full bodied, lightly sweet, lightly astringent finish.

Pours a very dark black with a cream colored head. Smells of alcohol and chocolate. Tastes of chocolate and oak. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

2010 Vintage 750 ML format Black with hints of dark ruby, very murky looking. Thin white collar. Nose is roasted malts, fudge, chocolate, oak, vanilla and bourbon. Very dry and big nose. Taste is dry, very dry. Dark chocolate, fudge, oak, roasted malts and caramel. Light carbonation big body. Feels like a 11% RIS, not 9.5% Nice beer.
