4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
650 ml bottle from Bev4less. Pours a hazy amber color with a medium fluffy off-white head that has great retention. The aroma is somewhat mild with oranges, tangerines, bubble gum and caramel. The flavor is vibrant tropical fruits with a big pineapple presence, add in some tangy tangerine, bitter grapefruit and not-to-sweet caramel. The palate is full and viscous with lively carbonation. Finishes long and dry. Overall: First rate DIPA.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Type: 22-oz. bottle
Glass: Modern Times pint glass
From: Trader Joe’s in La Mesa (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $8.99 (I think (lost receipt))
Purchased: May 21, 2015
Consumed: May 22, 2015
Misc.: 2015 version - 10.5 pct. ABV
Poured a golden, orange, hazy color with three fingers of frothy, white head. Could just barely see some bublles coming up along the sides of the glass. Good amount of uneven, spiderweb lacing along the sides of the glass. Average-to-above average retention. (Sight - 3.88)
Smelled pleasant hops up front of Citra, floral, Centennial and tropical. Also got nectarine, nectarine rind, caramel, peach, mango and light pineapple. (Smell - 4.13)
Initial thought on the first taste was…. funky. Got spoiled fruit, Centennial hops, Citra hops, floral hops, tropical hops, melon, pineapple, mango, tangerine rind, Grew on me late, but couldn’t quite pull the 4.00 trigger.
(Taste - 3.88)
Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt finish. (Feel - 3.88)
This was just a funky beer, but the more it went down the more I thought it of the good side. (Overall - 4.00)

3.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Big hop aroma....that was the great stuff. Thats about it. Just a hop oil tea. No malt no dimension just straight hop oil. You couldnt even tell the different flavors from the hops.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber purchased at the BevMo in Escondido ($8.99). Pours a dark amber / burnt orange hue with one finger of white foam. AROMA of grapefruit, sweet citrus, pine, sticky honey, caramel malts, but not much tropical fruit. FLAVOR of big grapefruit, creamy mango, some sticky caramel, but with the big 10.8% booze quite noticeable. The significant maltiness leaves it surprisingly sweet. The big ABV is hidden in the nose, but makes itself present in the mouth and extends into the finish. I purchased this almost four months ago when I believe it was freshly bottled. The hops are mellowing (not much tropical fruit left) and with the high ABV, it is taking on some barley wine characteristics. It’s still an acceptable IIIPA, but I might like to try this on draft or a fresher bottle as I would hope to find more of the tropical fruity notes from the Nelson hops. (21, 909)

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Orange amber with a slight haze, off-white head and nice lacing. Sharp hop aromas up front with citrus, pine and grass in a pretty busy olfactory assault. Taste is similar, as a hodgepodge of hop flavors create a storm of bitterness that just barely allows a caramel sweetness through. Medium body, slick mouthfeel, moderate carbonation and a bitter finish.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice tropical and citrus aromas. Deep golden color with light carbonation, light head retention. The taste brings big bold bitterness followed by nice rounded sweet maltiness and a touch of alcohol; citrus, grass, resin, and lingering pine. Medium to full body and a sticky mouthfeel. Overall a great big bold IPA with a ton of alcohol and enough bitterness to knock your socks off, if you enjoy a punch to your taste buds like I do, this is great.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle via trade. Pours amber with small white head. Aroma is sweet malts, fruity, and alcohol. Taste is bitter with grapefruit coming out. Also had a bit of sweetness to it with the caramel and alcohol was noted. I’d say the body was medium to full and the bitterness was lingering. Not my favorite, but decent.
