COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Steeped in a long history dating back hundreds of years, this "old-fashioned" beer is again in vogue. Lager is the German word meaning "to store," so this beer ages three times longer than our ales do. "Dunkel" means dark in German, but don’t let the color fool you, it is by no means heavy, overbearing, or bitter. In fact, it proves to be a very drinkable session beer.

12oz bottle from Brewmasters in Wilson. Dark brown murky body with virtually no head (light brown). Moderate bitter taste up front with a light sweet average finish. Slight carbonation with an oily texture on the palate. Not sure what smells were coming from this.

12 oz bottle pours brown with a off white head. Aroma of caramel malts and bread. Taste is the malts and a nice bitterness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pint on tap. Rich brown color, good lacing, medium head burns off to a small collar. Aroma is nuts, grains, trail mix, freshness. Warm palate, nice tapering aftertaste, bookends the beer perfectly. Another slightly roasty taste, not sour at all, which is a common mistake for a dunkel. Better than many german beers of the same style, rare achievement - not the purest traditional, but i think it may be better, actually (blasphemy!).

Well the deScription of this beer is on target at least. The write-up claims it’s not heavy, overbearing or bitter...however...that’s kinda what one is looking for in a dark beer. Disappointing.

Poured from a bottle it is a murky muddy brown with a slight white head. The aroma is of caramel and it tastes bitter and lingers on the palate.

16 aug 2013, bottle. Clear amber, no bubbles. Nose is meaty and malty. Med body and mildly fizzy. Tastes of serious wort. Bready, slightly toasty. Nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12oz bottle. Dark brown pour with a thin white ring of white. Aroma is sweet and nutty. a little sour. Flavor is also a little sour and nutty. Smooth and mild. Good, but not my go to choice, even for the style.

Bottle. Pours light brown, thin tan head. Mild aroma of toasted malt, caramel, dark chocolate. Medium sweet taste. Medium-light body, slick texture, nice mild bitterness rounds it out. Good representation of the style and enjoyable beer.
