3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. The pour was a clear medium brown with a enormous (4+ finger) light tan frothy head that lasted throughout and had some excellent spotty sheets of lace.
The aroma was of a roasted dark bread malt, a pine hop and a musty yeast with notes of chocolate, coffee, toffee and dark fruit (raisins and prunes).
The taste was nice and malty with a touch of toffee sweetness and a hint of chocolate from the beginning then proceeded to become mildly bitter and hoppy with a note of coffee and just a light presence of dark fruit towards the end. The flavor lasted a decent while after the swallow with a nice roasty hoppiness left lingering on the taste buds.
Mouthfeel was a shade or two under medium in body with a nice dry texture and an almost fizzy carbonation.
Overall an impressive roasty brew. Sweet, bitter and quite malty, it had it all going on...

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle @ home, thanks to jcnielsen for sending. Pours a reddish orange appearance with a brown head. Light nuttiness, caramel, vanilla, toasted malt in the nose. Medium body. Quite malty though not overly sweet. A touch of acidity. A little chocolate, brown sugar, and some nuttiness. Pretty fine but nothing special.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sample at Bad Parenting Club (plus a few dirty aunt/uncles?!): NC Beer Edition on 03/28/2015. Pours a hazy cola color with a medium beige head that recedes steadily. Spotty lacing. Aroma of roast malt, caramel and fruit. Light-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, earthy hops and fruit. The finish is sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle. Poured brown color with an average frothy tan head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Medium toasted malt & coffee aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium dark sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of average duration. This beer met my expectations.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle, purchased 2/23/15 from Habersham in Savannah, Georgia. Bottled 11/17/14. Great chocolate, and toast malt up front in the aroma. Hint of coffee. Lighter to medium body, with an awesome full, creamy feel. Crisp, light carbonation, mildly tingly. Light slick finish. Hazy red / brown color, thin sort of bubbly off-white head, leaving good ropes of lace. Moderate sweet taste, nice light to moderate bitter. Now, this is a dunkel. One of the better American examples of the style that I’ve ever had. Very satisfying and well-rounded.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours dark brown with a finger of tan head. Aroma is rich smoked malts with nuts and dried figs and prunes. Flavor is malty but not thick, and with smoky character. The dark fruits are present but not terribly prominent.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
My Bottom Line:
Toasted bread, prunes and earthy hops dwell in a smooth body, constructing a surprisingly agreeable Dunkel-like lager.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam settles atop the mahogany-hued brown.
-Apart from the fruitiness, this is pretty close to being an authentic Dunkel.
-Drinkability is high despite the chewy malts and their sugars.
-The flavor profile is balanced throughout.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Light and easily downed dark lager that, although very mild on flavor and aroma, shows off a nice roasted maltiness. Short finish.
