3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. The pour was a clear medium brown with a enormous (4+ finger) light tan frothy head that lasted throughout and had some excellent spotty sheets of lace.
The aroma was of a roasted dark bread malt, a pine hop and a musty yeast with notes of chocolate, coffee, toffee and dark fruit (raisins and prunes).
The taste was nice and malty with a touch of toffee sweetness and a hint of chocolate from the beginning then proceeded to become mildly bitter and hoppy with a note of coffee and just a light presence of dark fruit towards the end. The flavor lasted a decent while after the swallow with a nice roasty hoppiness left lingering on the taste buds.
Mouthfeel was a shade or two under medium in body with a nice dry texture and an almost fizzy carbonation.
Overall an impressive roasty brew. Sweet, bitter and quite malty, it had it all going on...

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Smokey Caramelized malt aroma and flavor. Descent amount of flavor and fairly balanced, but more smokey than I like. Slight sweet malt with a dry finish. Descent beer and overall well made but not my favorite.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
If you like deep and rich brews, this is a bit disappointing. The pour is the color of sweet tea with a light cream foam. The initial taste is complex with bitter hues and diluted mix of floral, wood and pecan. As it sits in the mouth, it seems like either earthy lager or watered down brown ale. I would love to say that the aftertaste is better, but I’d be lying.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottled on1/7/16: Hazy deep crimson. Broken off-tan head. Decent nose of red velvet cake, chocolate covered toffee, plum, cocoa, and slightly husky malt (burnt popcorn). Whispers of spicy hops. Soft carbonation. Prominent toffee flavors initially combine with a plumlike estery push. Roast notes appear in the form of burnt popcorn and grain husks, although there is some cleaner bready heft beneath it. Not a lot of texture or sophistication to the malt, in general. Gentle, well-integrated hops provide a pleasant spiciness. Subtle spent-tea leaf limpness and even come papery notes creep in, though there is a snappier cookielike dimension that is pleasing. Finishes with dry cocoa, browned biscuits and plummy fruitiness. While not a total husk bomb, I can’t help but to be distracted by them. A pretty basic version that seems more aligned with brown ale than lager, as it’s quite fruity and slick and the water quality just isn’t there. No melanoidins to speak of, and not particularly clean. Overall, good balance and fairly drinkable. Nice to see this is not filtered.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap. Moderate roasted grain for the malt, light herbs for the hops and dough for the yeast, with a hint of toffee. Head is small, frothy, off-white with some slippery lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is hazy dark brown. Flavor starts slightly sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, watery with a lively carbonation. A pretty good Tmavy just nothing outstanding about the style.

3.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle dated 9/21/2015 into a pilsner glass
A: A hard pour yields only 12" of beige foam that recedes rapidly to a collar and center bubbles. Clear ruby tea tinted brown color.
S: Some light roast and dark fruit on the nose.
T: Tart hops and roasty malt flavor. Neither cloyingly sweet nor burnt tasting.
Not very complex or heavy.
M: Smooth and somewhat creamy mouthfeel with light to medium body. Wet and medium to long coating finish.
O: Tasty and drinkable, this is a very approachable dark lager. Always a bit expensive in my area though at 10.50/6. I like it and will continue to buy from time to time.

Bottle. Pours a clear light brown body with a small fizzy beige head. The nose is toasty with a chocolaty and nutty accent. Just a light hint of hops. The flavor is slightly sweet with a clean maltiness up front. Light bitterness on the finish, along with a little chocolate and light roast. Light bodied, very clean and smooth, soft fizzy carbonation. Pretty solid Dunkel.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Very nice , extremely drinkable beer! only one complaint, it erupted like a shaken coke upon opening.. what didn’t over flow filled the glass with a nice dark color and a thick head. The aroma was friendly and welcoming with notes of caramel, toasted malt and fresh fruit. tastes very pleasing with touches of citrus, and chocolate. Finish is short and sweet.

Bottle @ home, thanks to jcnielsen for sending. Pours a reddish orange appearance with a brown head. Light nuttiness, caramel, vanilla, toasted malt in the nose. Medium body. Quite malty though not overly sweet. A touch of acidity. A little chocolate, brown sugar, and some nuttiness. Pretty fine but nothing special.
