12 ounce bottle from Brawley’s in Charlotte. Pours a very dark brown color with a large frothy brown head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of oatmeal, chocolate, nutty notes and a faint finish of tart cherries and band aids. Uh oh. The taste is bitter roasted malts, nutty notes, chocolate and coffee. Thankfully no infection notes here. Medium bodied. Pretty good overall.

Deep brown pour with a tight tan head. The nose is softly toasty with a light touch of cocoa. Soft and chewy palate with a little bit of toffee. Soft toffee and some lean malt as well. A nice fruity character through the middle of the palate. A little bit of red licorice fruitiness. Interesting stuff.

Bottle thanks to a trading partner. Pours a near clear deep brown with a light brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma is quite rich with dark chocolate, roasted malts and a bit of a backing dark bread note. Flavor begins with rich roasted malts and is joined by a rich a chocolate note. A nice beer.

12/28/13. 12oz bottle from Exit 18. Almost black pour with a small tan head that fades. Mild dusty chocolate aroma, faint soy sauce and ash. Mild flavor with milk chocolate, a hint of metal, light acidic sourness, a certain savory aspect, not quite soy sauce, lingering ash and dry maltiness. Eh.
