COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Constituting a beginning; giving origin to something derived or developed; original." Need we say more? True to its Imperial roots! This brew clocks in at 9.5% ABV, and over 100 IBUs! It is made with four varieties of grains resulting in a bold dark amber color and four varieties of hops, creating a subtle citrus aroma, and bitter, hoppy finish. Winner of a gold medal at the 2009 Santa Cruz National Organic Challenge, this recipe surely will not disappoint.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate pine, dank hops, and some light citrus. It pours a transparent amber/copper with a one finger orange-tinted off-white head that has decent retention. There’s a lot of soapy lacing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate citrus and some light tropical fruits. The finish has moderate grapefruit, light-moderate pine, and dank hops. It’s medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation.

Bomber from Bev4Less. Pours dark orangey amber. Little to no foam. Aromas are dank and piney and resinous. Taste is full, malty, and bracingly bitter, but pleasant enough. Some floral and citrus come in on the late palate. Body and mouthfeel are generally think and full, but middling for the style. ABV is pretty well disguised. Very good DIPA. Not sure it’s anything really special, however. So... hmmm. Dunno.

Pours deep amber with medium offwhite head. Aromas of pine, grapefruit, caramel, and a little breadiness. Taste is much of the same with slick bready caramel up front that quickly turns to citrus and huge grapefruit. Finish is bone dry and has a lingering bitterness.

Bottle from StefanSD, thanks! Pours a clear copper color with a pretty large white head. Aromas of some citrus, but mostly pine. Taste is bracingly bitter with good resinous pine notes, but no real juicy hop expression. Still, it’s pretty darn good. Finishes with a bitter sting and pretty dry. Nice.

650 ml bottle from Bev4less. Pours a translucent copper color with a medium off-white head that has very good retention. The aroma is pungent with grapefruit, oranges, pine and something salty. The taste mirrors the aroma with loads of grapefruit, some melon, pine and all set in a nutty malt base. The palate is full and smooth with soft carbonation. Finishes long and dry with a bit of bitter grapefruit. Overall: Top shelf stuff

Pours a nice dark orange, with thick egg white head. Resinous, sticky grapefruit on the nose. Big time bitter, pine grapefruit hops on the palate, and a hint of sweetness that finishes quickly and leaves a bitter hop note on the back. A good DIPA, but not as good as some of the main SoCal offerings

Crisp amber coloured body with a great copper tint, a two centimetre tall tan head and some nice bubbles from the bottom. Aroma of crisp grapefruit, pine, hops, resin, a bunch of alcohol and some nice pineapple notes. Medium to Full-bodied; Very piney and resinous flavour body with a bright fruity note and some pungent malt - a lot of alcohol as well. Aftertaste shows resin, pine, grapefruit, malt, toffee and a hint of nuts too. Overall, a very nice Imperial IPA with tons of hop notes of all sorts of types and a deep resinous alcohol flavour at the end. Nice to try and worth sampling if you can get it! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Texas Liqour in Carlsbad, California on 19-March-2013 for US$8.99 sampled at home in New Paltz, New York on 30-March-2013.

22oz bomber pours clear copper with a near white head of foam. The aroma has a mix of thick malts, resiny hops, a bit of grapefruit and a bit of sweet citrus hard candy. The taste delivers plenty of resiny hop goodness in the form of firm pine hops and slivers of grapefruit and tangelo citrus hops. It has both resiny bitter hops and smooth hop flavor. Nice stuff.

Poured from a Bomber to a super billowy white head. The aroma is bold with resin and strong citrus. Delicious smell. The beer tastes great - a real solid punch of citrus and sweetness. The sweetness lingers on the back end of the beer.
