"Constituting a beginning; giving origin to something derived or developed; original." Need we say more? True to its Imperial roots! This brew clocks in at 9.5% ABV, and over 100 IBUs! It is made with four varieties of grains resulting in a bold dark amber color and four varieties of hops, creating a subtle citrus aroma, and bitter, hoppy finish. Winner of a gold medal at the 2009 Santa Cruz National Organic Challenge, this recipe surely will not disappoint.

Real thick, cream-colored, long lasting head, lots of lace, and a clear honey amber color. Aroma is caramel, toffee, fruit, hop - very nice. Flavor’s like nose, slight sweet, carbonic tang in front, then the bitter which is long. Body is perfect. Very good drinking. Slight alcohol warmth at the very end.

Got sent up a gift pack of North County San Diego brews. This was one. Another xcellent brew from the hop region of the country. Fairly clear, great citric aroma, rich clean finish, lacing on glass lasted till end. Definitely recommend.

On tap at brewpub this years new batch released yesterday. This was delicious! Big pungent aroma and great balance flavors of bitter hops and malted sweetness but not overly so. Great body and overall my favorite beer from this brewery. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours deep amber with medium offwhite head. Aromas of pine, grapefruit, caramel, and a little breadiness. Taste is much of the same with slick bready caramel up front that quickly turns to citrus and huge grapefruit. Finish is bone dry and has a lingering bitterness.

Big body. Tried their latest batch today. Always happy with the mother earth brews and as usual the primordial does not disappoint.

Pour from 22 0cz. bomber. Pours a dark copper orange with a two finger off white head which fades to nice lacing. Aroma is of citrus (A lot of orange and some grapefruit), pine, tropical fruits (pineapple and nice mango notes), sweet malts, and some light caramel. Taste is of citrus (a lot of orange), pine resin, sweet bready malts, caramel, and a little booze. Has a medium-full body and a creamy, slightly chewy, semi dry, pretty bitter, but still well balanced finish. Overall, a decent DIPA that is more of a East Coast style then a true west coast style, that could hide its abv a little better.
