bubbleflubber (1832) - Asheville, North Carolina, USA - MAY 15, 2011
Pours a tea hue into the glass, with a wispy silken head and lots of active carbonation bubbles rising through the liquid. The nose is of sweet dough, but not very prominent. Flavors are very bitter throughout, with a touch of tea and some English malt accents. Lingering pepper finish, with a seltzery mouthfeel. Substantive on the palate, a bit of an Impy ESB honestly, though. Needs a bit more malt and indicative floral and citrus notes to shine as a next-level IPA.

12 oz. bottle from Southern Season, bottle date 02/16/11 Ar: Citrusy aroma, as expected. Not quite as hop dominance on the nose as I expected. Ap: Pours a hazy light orange with a full, creamy white head. Epic rings of lace. Really a good looking IPA. T: Loads of hoppyness. Mild malt presence with a very bitter finish for a standard IPA. Slightly peppery, a touch of citrus. P: Nice moderately carbonated body. O: Pretty modest IPA. Hop flavors a bit different from what I’m used to, not that that’s a bad thing.
