Kind of strange, but I can't put my finger on it. Not like other IPA's that I like, but overall, just ok...

2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle @ home, thanks to jcnielsen. Pours a cloudy yellow orange appearance with a cream colored head. Tropical fruity, a bit woody, a bit papery aroma. A little twangy. Kind of dusty / cardboard-y flavor. Plenty of citrus. Moderate to high sweetness. High bitterness. Not in the best shape but I’m still not a huge fan.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 ounce bottle
A gift from a local for local trade, this was a very nice IPA with East Coast roots. While not my favorite example of the style it had a few signs of promise. If you are looking for the best this is not it. However if you want to compare how different regions interpret a ubiquitous style pick one up.
Aroma / Appearance - A frothing head creates a little concern before it begins to settle into a transparent bronze foundation. Rye, earthy grasses, lemon zest, and laid back summer breezes give this the air of a casual afternoon sitting on the porch.
Flavor / Palate - Rye, dusty floor polish, and sourdough emerge with an intent to leave a memorable mark on the palate. The bitter transition carries them towards a finish of crushed walnuts, crusty bread, and resin. Something about the whole experience feels a bit disjointed. With many potential highlights the overall result never comes together in a cohesive manner. I’m glad to have tried this one but in the future I think I’ll stick to other styles from Mother Earth.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle into shaker. Very cloudy copper color. Aroma is malty caramel, floral and honey hops. Taste is malty up front, spicy in the middle and long bitter finish. Medium body, sticky, soft carbonation, long finish. Great example of a micro IPA.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 5/20
The whole 6 pack was severely flawed by a metallic taste, which can come from a variety of causes. The bottles had a bottled on field on the label, which was left blank. I have never tasted a beer with such a huge overwhelming metallic flaw as this one. I assume it was a bad batch, based on other reviews.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Trade with drowland - thanks! Pours a sightly murky dark orange with a thin but sticky eggshell white head. Aroma has some fruit salad accents, a touch of spruce and mint. Flavor is full bodied and tangy with some citrus bitterness, some maple syrup sweetness, a bit of nuttiness and some cake mix sweetness in the finish, Mouthfeel is full and sticky. Pretty solid.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The appearance of the beer comes off with a nice hazy orange tint to it, no sediment, with a mild creamy head that clung to the side somewhat, decent carbonation. (almost like a hefeweizen). The smell is a mild citrus smell and has some residual hoppy smell too (IMO the worst part of this beer but I dont buy beer to smell them). The taste starts off mild until you swallow then you get a nice hoppy taste with some malty flavors to it too (a nice combination that isn’t overpowering but maintains a good taste). The mouthfeel is a very nice hoppy holdover, again, not overpowering but lingering well. Overall, this is a very nice beer from a brewer that I have not experienced before. If the rest of their beers are brewed this well, I look forward to trying more of them. My best friend was kind enough to bring me up a sixer from Charlotte and I have asked him for more of it.
