This beer style is over 400 years old, and continues to enjoy overwhelming popularity. Offering low hop bitterness, it is easy to enjoy. It pours very hazy, with a light gold color... we say it’s like summertime in a glass. Bitter orange peel and fresh coriander add zest and depth to this light, refreshing beer.

Golden pour a very small white head and some lacing. Coriander and spices in the aroma and flavor, some orange peel and citrus notes and hint of spice in the finish. Heavy for the style, which is a good thing.

THOUGHTS: It had a rather full mouthfeel. Nice wit. It was a little heavy on the coriander which hurt the flavor a bit, but it made for a beautiful aroma. TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a murky, light to medium, milky yellow with an average, white head that kept a nice sheet and left barely fair lacing. It also had tiny to small particles in the body of an average density. THe aroma had lots of coriander; a little lemon; and some orange, but mostly it was just coriander. The initial flavor was acidic, slightly bitter and slightly sweet; while the finish was light to moderately sweet, acidic, lightly bitter and slightly sour with and average to long duration. There was some coriander, a little orange, lemon, wheat, yeast, coriander and more coriander. The light to medium body was leaning to medium. It was also sort of creamy and then rather dry with fizzy carbonation and a dry and slightly chalky finish.

Pale golden color out of the bottle with a very small white head. Big coriander spice nose. Lots of bitter orange peel, home made bread, coriander and maybe some black pepper. Very sharp beer. Almost hot on the tongue. An aggressive orangey Wit.

12 ounce single from Bruisin’ Ales in Asheville, North Carolina. The first digits on the ’Brewed On’ date are smudged, so, it’s either from August (08) or all the way back in March (03). Appearance: Pours a cloudy, flaxen-hued body with just oven an inch of sturdy, whitish foam. Smell: Soft aroma of wheat berries with welcome notes of wildflower honey, savory spice, and fresh orange peelings. Taste: Lightly sweet, lightly tangy, honey-hinting wheat malt, maybe some pils malt in the mix as well, given a slight yeasty dough character. The sweetness is complimented by a spicy whole coriander taste and a zip of zesty orange peel. A bit more citrus and fluffed wheat for the easy-going finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus carbonation. Drinkability: I enjoyed it. Tasty and refreshing all the way down to the final sip.

Pours a clear golden color with a white head. Aroma is fruity, orange, some coriander, and slightly floral. Flavor is honey, orange, some coriander, a touch of grain, and a light floral finish that is strangely reminiscent of pot.

Serving: 12 oz. bottle from Captain Easy’s.
Aroma: The nose is spicy and fruity with notes of... blueberry?? A little bit of yeast in there too.
Appearance: It pours a hazy pale gold with a medium, foamy, white head. Decent head retention.
Taste: The flavor is a bit on the sweet side with notes of yeast, wheat, that blueberry fruitiness, and a touch of coriander.
Palate: Light in body with slightly higher than average carbonation leading to a slightly dry, clean finish.
Overall: I tend to like my Wit a little more on the conventional side. The blueberry note sort of threw me off. Still, it’s highly sessionable and relatively tasty.
