This beer style is over 400 years old, and continues to enjoy overwhelming popularity. Offering low hop bitterness, it is easy to enjoy. It pours very hazy, with a light gold color... we say itís like summertime in a glass. Bitter orange peel and fresh coriander add zest and depth to this light, refreshing beer.

Pale golden color out of the bottle with a very small white head. Big coriander spice nose. Lots of bitter orange peel, home made bread, coriander and maybe some black pepper. Very sharp beer. Almost hot on the tongue. An aggressive orangey Wit.

12 ounce single from Bruisiní Ales in Asheville, North Carolina. The first digits on the íBrewed Oní date are smudged, so, itís either from August (08) or all the way back in March (03). Appearance: Pours a cloudy, flaxen-hued body with just oven an inch of sturdy, whitish foam. Smell: Soft aroma of wheat berries with welcome notes of wildflower honey, savory spice, and fresh orange peelings. Taste: Lightly sweet, lightly tangy, honey-hinting wheat malt, maybe some pils malt in the mix as well, given a slight yeasty dough character. The sweetness is complimented by a spicy whole coriander taste and a zip of zesty orange peel. A bit more citrus and fluffed wheat for the easy-going finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus carbonation. Drinkability: I enjoyed it. Tasty and refreshing all the way down to the final sip.

Pours a clear golden color with a white head. Aroma is fruity, orange, some coriander, and slightly floral. Flavor is honey, orange, some coriander, a touch of grain, and a light floral finish that is strangely reminiscent of pot.

Serving: 12 oz. bottle from Captain Easyís.
Aroma: The nose is spicy and fruity with notes of... blueberry?? A little bit of yeast in there too.
Appearance: It pours a hazy pale gold with a medium, foamy, white head. Decent head retention.
Taste: The flavor is a bit on the sweet side with notes of yeast, wheat, that blueberry fruitiness, and a touch of coriander.
Palate: Light in body with slightly higher than average carbonation leading to a slightly dry, clean finish.
Overall: I tend to like my Wit a little more on the conventional side. The blueberry note sort of threw me off. Still, itís highly sessionable and relatively tasty.

Bottle from Samís Quik Stop on 09/14/2010. Rather clear golden body with a medium creamy white head. Sweet citrus and light spice aroma. Sweet orange, citrus and lemon flavor, with some light spice and a faint wheat background. Medium light body with moderate carbonation.

Bottle shared by maniac. Pours a near clear pale straw with small white head. Aroma is interesting and bubblegum and a little fake, but very pleasing. Flavor is also weird spices, and orange zest, and more fake bubblegum. I rather enjoyed this. Very different than what I would have expected.

Poured from the bottle, itís a bit murky, but largely similar in appearance to the golden straw color of an American lager. Thereís no confusing this for a Bud once you take a sniff, though, with the aroma being a bit musty but lightly citrusy. The flavor is light and mild, but it really showcases the added spices and, as is common in the style, a banana-like character. Although not exactly light-bodied, goes down smooth and almost creamy.
