This beer style is over 400 years old, and continues to enjoy overwhelming popularity. Offering low hop bitterness, it is easy to enjoy. It pours very hazy, with a light gold color... we say itís like summertime in a glass. Bitter orange peel and fresh coriander add zest and depth to this light, refreshing beer.

Tasted on 8/10/12 from a capped 12oz bottle purchased at Bruisiní Ales. Pours hazy golden/yellow with an average white head that slowly recedes to average lace. The nose is light wheat malt with zesty orange peel and coriander, very nice and balanced. The flavor is the same, really driven by the bittersweet orange peel, with the coriander spices taking a back seat along with the wheat malt. The body is light with a somewhat sticky texture, lively carbonation, and a long spicy and bittersweet orange peel finish. This is a very nice Witbier.

Bright yellow appearance with a small, white head and little lacing. Grains and spice, including pepper, bleed into the yeast and produce an aroma similar to a farmhouse style ale. Wheat, yeast and spices prevail in the flavor while a modest hop demeanor is buried in the background. Crisp, tangy aftertaste. Medium-to-light bodied, well carbonated mouthfeel leading to an average length finish.

Bottled on May 27, 2016. Dark hazy golden. Densely packed collar of foam surrounds a broken center. Unrefined aroma of lemongrass, orange peel, paintlike yeast, egglike sulfur, husky malt, dirty dish rag, and a hint of cookie. Softly carbonated. Malt is heavily starchy and consequently contributes to a notably weighty body. Herbal and floral hop medley is pummeled by the wet and husky malt, as hints of plastic and coarse sulfur add to the sloppy mixture of flavors. Coriander comes off as soapy. Gluey yeast films the palate and exacerbates the excessively starchy malt, which leans towards dog food. No vividness or refinement to the grain, just by-the-numbers and strikingly muddled. Wet and husky finish is marred by hints of gummy candy and yeasty residue. Very unclean and not at all Belgian in character. Drain pour.

Weeping Willow Wit has a medium, white head a cloudy (after the swish & pour), yellow gold appearance, lots of fierce bubble streams, and a little bit of splotchy lacing left behind on the glass. The aroma is of very muted white bread, spices, and citrus, and the flavor is of white pepper, coriander, lemon, and sweet white bread. Mouthfeel is medium and fluffy, and Weeping Willow Wit finishes mostly dry and very mellow. RJT

High hopes for this bottle, sounds yummy from the label. Smell is mildly yeasty. Very nice witbier presentation for the eye. Virtually room temperature, but even from the taste-start I feel like this is going to be civilized and refined. Pleasant and fun with just a tiny hint of banana. Iím liking this session. Hides alky well. Some ever so mild banana perfume on the nose now. Right up there with shiner white wing and ankyís white out. Not bad! Would like another. Good, but not as good as Hoegaarden, East End Witte, Wittekerke or Blanche de Namur

On tap in Charlotte. Poured a light hazy yellow, nice white head. Aroma of wheat, faint orange, slight coriander, in balance. Flavor matches. Essentially a textbook wit. Very nice. Somehow wish it had a bit more oomph, maybe a bit more of a wheat body (add some oats?), but hard to complain. Well done.

Bottle shared with Scarlett. Pours a hazy golden body with notes of soft citrus, wheat and gentle spice. No gross banana or clove character, which is great.

12 oz. bottle, consumed on 10-11-15. Pours a hazy, highly effervescent, pale brass with a moderate amount of cream-colored head. Nice haze, pleasant color, even better effervescence: Many small, fast-rising bubbles. Very pleasant, wheaten aroma features scents of bubblegum, orange, lemon, and lime. Very good yeastiness in the smell. Appealing, strong aroma. Almost a funkiness to the smell, in a good way. Inoffensive but boring, light, wheaten taste features a mineral flavor. Big disparity between fun anticipation of the aroma and boring reality of the flavor, as is all too common in wheat styles. Light body. Smooth in the palate. Excessively aqueous and boring palate effects. Gets off to a good start in aroma and appearance but inevitably disappoints in flavor in palate. In other words, itís a witbier.

Bottle: Hazy light gold with a small white head. Grain....honey/lemon scent. Sweet grain malt flavour......not very citrusy....not very lively. Forgettable, at best.
