Windowpane: Blackberries is a Double Wit beer, which is then fermented with blackberries and aged in a pinot noir wine barrel for three months! The finished product provides a spectacular combination of flavors that you don’t want to miss.

Bottle shared by Eddy. Pours slightly hazy orangish golden color with off white head. Aromas of berries, wine, and some oak. Wheat flavor with tart berries, some vinous notes, and a hint of oak. Medium body with average carbonation.

Draught. This is a nice tart wit with lots of unusual flavors running through it.

Cloudy gold pour, white head. Very unique beer. The berries and wheat play well together. The alcohol is hidden pretty well. Then you bring in some nice grapey notes and the oak. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.

A little surprised to see some of the low marks on this beer. 750ml bottle pours a hazy, light orange with some creamy, white head. Nose has sweet candy, spice, lemon rind, plenty of berry, a bit of funk. Flavor is nice and balanced, white grape, lemon, berry, mild wood pulp, a little grassy, some vitamin C. Pulpy, tart finish.

4 oz draft pour at ChurchKey. Hazy golden yellow with off-white head. Nice lacing. Aromas of stone fruit, tropical fruit, big blackberries. Tastes of berries, blackberries, wheat, herbs and spices. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Medium carbonation.

Bottle sampled at Muckfest V on 7/12/14. Clear orange to amber in color with a medium white head. Aroma of sweet malt, wheat and berries. Sweet malt and wheat flavor with berry and slight tartness before a dry finish.

TURDFERGUSON shared this one at Muckfest 2014 - thanks again, Sam! Pours a hazy yellow gold with a white head. Notes of vanilla, bready and pale malts, sawdust, wheat straw, and light blackberries. The vinous and oaky notes are mellow here. Light-medium bodied, with medium bodied, and a sweet, dry, funky mouthfeel. A little bit disappointing for something that sounded pretty good.

bottle. Not a fan. More pinot noir and less blackberries. alcohol is really 7 not 9 as this site says. At least the 2013 is 7. Was expecting a lot more and im bummed.

More tart than sweet. Blackberry liquor and muffins in the nose. More tart in the nose than the mouth. Slightly yeasty. Fine, mildly tart, lingering aftertaste. O: My least favorite of the 3 beers I’ve tried in the Mother Earth Windowpane series.

Pours a hazy honey-golden with a thick and rather persistent eggshell head. Malty aroma has a hint of blackberry. Not strong, but intriguing. Flavor is mainly malty, a little bit of blackberry, slightly sour, slightly hoppy. Texture has good fizz and decent viscosity. Don’t know if it was worth the price, but it is definitely enjoyable. Heck, it’s from a great North Carolina microbrewery, and I like!
