Pours a hazy copper from the bottle with dissipating white head that leaves little to no lace. Aroma is dark fruits and booze, a hint of vanilla. Taste is moving toward the brandy barrel with a nice dark fruity sweetness. Very intense, but not bad.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml bottle in a tulip. Pours deep brown/ruby with a lacy, cream-colored head. Aroma of dark fruits, strong caramel and toffee malts with a lot of sweetness, some oak and vanilla, hints of alcohol, and some light spices. Flavor the same with a very nice blend of the dubbel, the fruits, and the barrels. Average to smoother texture. A very solid dubbel.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a slightly hazy chestnut with a fairly thick and frothy buff head. Malty aroma has a strong fruity overtone - definitely raisin and fig - with subtle notes of brandy-soaked wood and vanilla. Flavor is - sublime, superb, lip-smacking. Fruity notes are strong but not overpowering, a little sweet, a little sour, letting through the brandy, malt and vanilla notes to strut their moment on the tongue. Texture is firm and smooth, leaving a fizzy and fruity finish. Pick a bomber while you can, as it won’t keep!

Bottle at rbwg. Wow, like GT, was surpsied by how good this was for several reasons. I don’t much care for figs. Or raisins. And every other one of these windowpane series beers I’ve had have sucked big time. I have not had the blackberry which I hear is pretty good. Anyway. Mildly funky, Flemish bruin type flavor and mouthfeel. Not sweet like I expected. Count me impressed.

>> Clear amber pour with weak foam. Nose is somewhat sour, funky, red wine barrel. Taste is much better than other beers in the windowpane series: lightly fruity, lightly sour, low sweetness to balance. Nice oud bruin nose, definitely funky. Was shocked that this one tasted good.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle - Light malts and sweet barrel notes. Cloudy copper with a thin beige head. Barrel and booze notes, with a sweetness that just doesn’t agree with me. The brandy, sweet fruit and yeast just put me off this.

750 ml bottle to taster (shared by jtclockwork). Looks good; a translucent amberish brown with off-white lacing. Smells of figs and raisins. Tastes like it smells with notes of oak and an average mouthfeel. Solid beer.
