12 oz bottle - pours a fair amount darker than its brother, the 120W-60. similar hops characteristics, but this seems to have gotten the lion’s share of bittering hops. much more rounded flavor in its cereal-like malts and reasonably balanced hops (grapefruit and candy), although in a "double pale ale" there ought to be more hops. quite tasty and drinkable, despite a woodiness to the finish - leads me to believe that they waaay over-extracted the tannins from their malt and the hops til the rinsewater ran clear. not enough hops, so it has to be shoe-horned into a "strong ale" category.

amber body with no head..grass and grapefruit aroma with a hint of sugar in the nose..watered down body that tastes like kitchen cleaner or an IPA tainted with bleach...awful

Small beige-cocoa head is neatly retained, but eventually fades to partial cover, leaving very light lace. Deep, deep amber-rust colored body has a light haze and tight carbonation.
Strong nutty-hoppiness in the nose is extremely dominant. Let’s see, either A) they just boiled some horribly old hops for too long and got little bitterness and tons of astringency/nuttiness B) they used some really reserved, low alpha English hop (or saaz) as the bittering hop and got neither much flavor or bitterness. Whatever the case, not enough fruitiness/brightness and too much dry floral hops, nuttiness and astringency. Crystal malt and/or some other lightly toasted malt gives iced tea, sourness and breadiness. No alcohol noted, though and no flaws. Medium strength.
Dry, nutty, toasty, astrigent, with notes of soggy hop tea and overboiled hops galore. Too dry, with no softness on the palate whatsoever. Decent carbonation level and moderately tight. No flaws.

I liked this beer very much, beautiful amber color with a nice white head and nice malt and hop aroma, it hides the alcohol quite well, very flavorful.

An old ale brought back in their aged series. OK carbonation, some darkness in colour, bit of head and lace. Lots of grapefruit and malt in this one and most interesting. The clear winner in tonight’s lineup.
