Jun 15, 2005 On tap: Strong citrus aroma of mostly grapefruit. Transparent orangish-amber with a decent white head. Sweet and fruity with an almost orange juice like character. Light banana. Light alcohol and strong citrus hop finish. Very citrusy overall. Very nice.

Sep 20, 2005 on draft at the 2005 Detoberfest pubcrawl! citrusy amber with lots of fruit and malt notes, very clearly a sweet barley wine. not much alcohol, which is good, and a sticky finish. i like this very much.

Dec 30, 2004 Updated: Jan 18, 20052004 draught @ the brewery, late December. Havent seen a barleywine with an appearance like this since I tried HOTD Fred almost a year ago. Dark golden yellow with some light copper tinges and a small white head. Lightly hazy. Aroma of bitter, citrus hops, like bitter orange peel almost (though there is none in here). Vanilla, almond liqueur and a light cara pils malt accent on the nose as well. Flavor is truly unique, it’s a mix of bitter hops and vanilla, almond and honey for the malt flavors. Seemed like there was an herbal or spice note in here, which I asked the brewer about, who said there were no spices, just lots of cascades. It’s quite sweet but has a lingering dry, bitter, citric hops quality that is not unbalanced in the least. Moderate house yeast character could be what is accounting for the spice flavor I detect. Medium-full body, lightly bubbly, somewhat creamy mouthfeel and a finish of hops and sugar. Very similar to Fred, seems like it’s modeled after the golden American barleywine. Whatever the stimulus, it’s a very unique and flavorful beer.

Sep 1, 2007 A beer they should make all the time, but only do during Winter. Really nice and malty. A pleasant surprise when you think you will face the same three taps again.

Jan 18, 2005 Tap: dark dirty orange almost brownish color with a nice head. Nice lacing. Wrote in the notebook "barleywine character" while tasting. Aroma was sweet malt and citrus hops, very strong, almost perfume like. Flavor was very well balanced malts and hops and alot of "candy sugar" in the finish. Pleasantly surprised by this brew!!
