jtw (916), farmington, Michigan, USA May 23, 2008 on tap at the brewery - it’s a ruddy brown-black with a creamy tan head. aroma is perceptibly tart, accented by chocolate, oakwood, and red wine elements. some roastiness shows in the flavor that didn’t appear in the aroma, but it’s not so roasty to be tannic or bitter. medium-full body and a lighter finish than the aroma or body would indicate - quite nice.
BBB63 (3810), La Porte, Indiana, USA Aug 8, 2008 2008 MiBGF: Deep umber brown with oily head. A bit bready and roasty, okay, nutty and cherry pit vapours. The taste has a nice sharp tartness followed by dark sweet malts with a nutty and chalky finish. The mouth feel is soft and sharp. This is really good and shocking honestly. The 2nd best brew of day 2. punkrkr27 (354), Clawson, Michigan, USA Jul 31, 2008 Tap at the ’08 MBG Summerfest. Mahogany pour with a ruby highlight. Sour with notes of caramel, cherry, oak and a vinous hint. Creamy medium-full body.
