Strap yourself in, this is ride is about to get interesting!!! Freight Train Double I.P.A. is a strong, intensely hoppy version of a traditional I.P.A. This brew has a full body and heavy malt backbone that supports the strong hop character and provides a great balance.

Bottle. Cloudy reddish orange pour with a small head. Aroma is faint for a DIPA. Mandarin orange, wet grass, and caramel. Tastes kinda stale but I know the bottle is pretty fresh. Light sweetness and light bitterness. Candied citrus and caramel mostly with light pine and grass. Medium body. Meh.

Very drinkable DIPA. Not the style so much in terms of aggressive hop bite, but still a good citrus hoppy taste. Fresh bottle from Champane’s.

Pours a cloudy copper with a minimal head. Big taste in this one, great taste but not less filling. Hops linger for a while after a sip. No real alcohol present. Overall a good job with this, I will get it again.

Slightly cloudy amber color. Nothing special or worth buying again. Screw on cap was old school.

Cloudy amber with a medium white topper. Aroma of thick malts, toffee, caramel and citrus. Taste is super sweet with citrus, brown sugar and toffee and a mild bitter finish for the style.

12oz bottle, can’t recall too many other double ipa’s I’ve had with twist off caps. Good looking beer, hazy amber with an off-white head. Aroma is primarily citrusy. Taste is strong malt, citrus and earthy with lasting bitterness. A heavy beer, but pretty decent overall.

Pour is an orange/amber with little head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is a clean hoppy smell but seems quite weak to me. Taste goes along with the aroma and I agree with the other raters, the flavor is lacking complexity and flavor. It could be a lot better. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Amber with small head. Very average double IPA. Slight booze, and substantial hop bitterness, but lacking flavor and complexity. Agreed with the previous reviewer who described it as harsh. Could use some mellowing out.

Amber color out of the bottle. Only a wispy off white galaxy of superfine bubbles on the surface for a head. Big fresh explosion of pine when I poured this into the glass with grapefruit rind notes. Thick, syrupy mouthfeel. Marmalade, apricot jam, canned pineapple and candied grapefruit rind hoppiness. Some coarse bread underneath, but mostly the sticky hop resin flavors. Hot alcohol and even a hint of toothpaste. Really big, hoppy harsh beer.
