We found some fresh hop flowers down the back of the couch the other day (in their little protective foil bags so they really were fresh), and we all said as one: “Fancy Pants.” Could we do it again? Easy said, only one way to find out. Long story short, its back: Fancy Pants Amber Ale. Stupid name, serious beer. We used Galaxy Flowers through our hop-back to give a full-on tropical fruit/spicey aroma. On top of alot of traditional ale malt we threw a liberal dose of crystal malt, a little wheat and fermented her warm with an American Ale yeast. It’s deep copper/amber with a full, rocky head. 5.2% alc/vol, 35 BU, served in the bar in our fanciest glass.

375ml can into glass. BIG fruity nose, like a fruit salad. Dark amber beer with foamy two finger head. Fresh clean taste, a little zing on the tongue. Finish is rockmelon followed by a little bitter lemon. There’s a malty backbone in there. Excellent quaffer.

The appearance is of a rich rosy amber to caramel colour with a skim of white head that left a trail of lace down the side of the glass. The aroma was faultless, offering rich dessert fruitiness, peaches, nectarines and sweet pastry. There’s resinous amber characters of redwood gum and spruce needles, kiwifruit pulp and locquot. Body-wise it is on the sweeter side with plentiful berryfruit tartness accompanying the bitterness profile that leaves a lasting finish with tangs of burnt caramel. I had one of these and then had another. Then I had another one and wished I could have more, which is what you want from good beer.

(Can) Clear copper amber with good pale tan head that collapses quickly. Wonderful tropical fruit aroma. Light body with good carbonation. Nice taste that mixes exotic fruit, some peppery spice over a light toffee sweetness. The finish has some slightly harsh bitterness and seems a little thin. Very nice amber ale.

Can at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear medium coppet amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is woody resin hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a wood nettle resin, light toothpaste hop bitter light citrus palate and a moderate woody bitter finish. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Plenty going on and very refreshing.

Deep amber pour with a decent off-white head. Caramel, floral and tropical aromas, taste is malty, floral, a little bitter, a little dry - nicely done
