COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned English style ’real ale’. Burnt amber in color, it has a rich malt body and floral hop aroma. A batch was brewed in the Hook Norton brewery, UK, in 2015 to be sold from the cask at the UK pub chain, J D Wetherspoon for their Spring 2015 beer festival: "Dave Edney has travelled to Hook Norton Brewery, in Oxfordshire, to brew this beer especially for this Wetherspoon real-ale festival. This amber-coloured beer has a moderately malty body, with hints of toffee and roastiness, complemented by a well-balanced bitterness, fruity, citrus notes and a pleasing, dry finish. Hops used: Cascade (UK), Challenger Beer style: best bitter"

500ml bottle -

Picked up at BevMo the other day. A new beer they’re stocking. Always nice to see new beer. Most beers from Australia lack something, usually because of the long warehouse time where it sits waiting for distribution. The beer pours out a dark amber body, clingy white head with spotty lacing. Aroma is nutty, slightly earthy like wet leaves. Watered down raisins, wood, caramel malts, some light boiled veggies. Drinkable, but nothing spectacular.

330ml bottle into glass. Mild toffee malt nose. Red/brown beer with thin tan coloured head. Medium carbonation. Zingy mouthfeel. Creamy malty taste with hoppy finish. A little pepper perhaps. It’s like a standard UK bitter with standard Aussie carbonation. Not outstanding but very drinkable.

Nice beer, needs to warm up more than pub temp. Smooths out after a while English characteristics become noticeable sits a spell.
