COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a Hop Driven, Malty Ale with a strong bitterness thanks to a good dose of Citra and Galaxy hops. Its a tough nut, but loveable all the same.

Those of you that loiter in bottleshops in your spare time will probably have noticed that our Rare Breed IPA is no longer a Rare Breed. She’s become an all-grown-up fully-fledged member of the permanent range. …And like the doting parents we are, we’re super proud of her. She still has the same big tropical hop aroma – we dry-hop using Galaxy (Tas), Citra (USA) and Motueka (NZ), and full malty body (Ale malt, Wheat and Crystal malts). Specs are: 6.2% abv, 65 BU…one for hopheads and beer nerds everywhere.

Has a nice big head with decent lacing although im not getting much aroma from this at all. The flavour in this bottle does make up for the lacking aroma how ever. An almost sweet grapefruit and a subtle malt backing... very nice.. I haven’t had many IPA’s like this one so cheers mountain goat you have done well.

UPDATED: OCT 24, 2012 From a 640ml bottle on 20/11/2011. Pours a dark orange with a big lasting head. Has a decent fruity hop and caramel aroma. Has a sweet caramel malt backbone with a nice hoppy finish. Certainly not over the top by IPA standards but enjoyable. Rating 3.6. Re-rate - From a 330ml bottle on 24/10/2012. Appears to now be a Mountain Goat standard. Not much different to what I’ve said above, other than the head is less prominent, and I think I was more than a little harsh with the rating the first time. Just a really solid American style IPA, with a lovely sweet/bitter balance.
