This is a Hop Driven, Malty Ale with a strong bitterness thanks to a good dose of Citra and Galaxy hops. Its a tough nut, but loveable all the same.

Those of you that loiter in bottleshops in your spare time will probably have noticed that our Rare Breed IPA is no longer a Rare Breed. She’s become an all-grown-up fully-fledged member of the permanent range. …And like the doting parents we are, we’re super proud of her. She still has the same big tropical hop aroma – we dry-hop using Galaxy (Tas), Citra (USA) and Motueka (NZ), and full malty body (Ale malt, Wheat and Crystal malts). Specs are: 6.2% abv, 65 BU…one for hopheads and beer nerds everywhere.

(Bottle). Fresh aromas of hops, tropical fruits, sweet figs and spices. Taste of sweet ripe tropical fruits, figs, orange peel and raisins. Dry bitterness in the finish. This beer has a slightly different taste compared to IPA’s from the U.S. and Europe. A nice beer!

Bottle. Clear light chestnut brown with a medium sized diminishing off white head. Sparse but ok lacing. Nose has caramel and toffee, bready. Aroma is malty with peach and citrus hop notes. I don’t find the aroma very complex or exiting, but it’s pretty inoffensive which goes for the taste as well; easy drinking with good balance between sweet and bitter. I didn’t notice this was a twist off cap, those are too rare.

On tap @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2013. This is a deep dark champagne soda looking one, a bit blurry in the glass and it had a lacing off-white top (that’s all gone now). The aroma is not to ipa-is at first. Almost nutty in a way with traces of grass, zest and melon. A nice sweetness in this balanced by a good bitterness. The red kind of bitterness. Light berries and grass, that’s ending in a quite dry mouth aftertaste in the swallow. Easy to drink, nothing to special but still nice. 03.05.2013

Bottle. Pours an earthy brown colour. Can smell fruit salad flavours, with a hint of caramel in the aroma. I can mainly taste Pine with also some caramel flavours and some general fruit flavours. Overall. a good beer but nothing special, the right flavours are there, but they didn’t come together as well i liked.

Bottle at Taps Beer Bar, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a cloudy dark brown with a frothy white head and loads of lace. The aroma is rich, malty and with some red berry fruit. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with loads of malt, liquorice and pepper spice on the palate. The finish is sharp, acidic and with some long lasting bitterness. This beer really is rather good and grew on me over time as I began to appreciate all the subtle flavours.

330ml bottle. Copper amber colour, off-white foam head and aroma of malt, tropical & citrus fruits, hop resin. Taste is malt caramel with mango, orange, grapefruit, resin, pine and a lingering tangy hoppy bitterness. Slightly oily mouth feel, medium bodied, well carbonated, dry bitter finish. Quite drinkable IPA.

330ml stubbie. BB27/09/14. Poured a semi-clear coppery brown with a one-finger beige coloured head that diminished quickly and laced OK. Aroma strongly of sweet hops and grapefruit plus a trace of caramel malts as the beer warmed. Aroma not carried through onto the taste which was initially soft caramel followed by strong acidic hops bitterness. Light body. Long quite acidic bitter finish.
