75 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is light leathery, dusty and grapefruity hoppy. Mild spiced, peachy to mango/melon fruity. Bitter, medium dry and lingering fruity finish.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
(bottle) Poured cloudy amber with a big beige head. Wonderful hop aroma - floral and tropical fruity. Full bodied with excellent plentiful carbonation. The flavour strikes a lovely balance of interesting malts and hoppy bitterness. There’s tangy fruit at the start developing body and richness with a hint of spice leading to a good bitter finish. Overall an excellent and different beer giving an extra dimension to the typical hop-centred IPA.

Another great beer in the rare breed line up. So tasty and easy to drink. Even better when its fresh at the brewery itself!
Nice dark poor, plenty of flavor which is well balanced between the hops and malt and I found even tastier and interesting with the addition of the rye. Found it smooth and easy to drink.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A worthwhile experiment that doesn’t quite work for mine. Can’t pretend any knowledge of rye malt but here it appears to subtract from, rather than add to, the end result. This tasted like a hopped-up Stone & Wood Pacific Ale, a beer I don’t especially rate. This looked great - bronze with an enduring, pillowy head. The aroma has typical tropical fruit notes - passionfruit, white peach, quince and some nice bready malts. But the palate seems too thin to carry some big hoppy flavours. It’s over-fizzy and there’s a hole in the mid-palate where the body is lacking. Is that the flaw with rye malt or just coincidence? The hops are a muddle of indistinct fruity acids and the whole thing doesn’t come together. Lord knows it’s good to see an Australian brewer pushing into unexplored territory in this part of the world, but this doesn’t cut it for me. (640ml bottle from Down Under Cellars, Leura. 3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Excellent !

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Glad to have the opportunity to try this one but it didn’t live up my expectations. Perhaps I don’t care for rye beers? The malts were pronounced and it was not nearly as hop forward I’d like. Very drinkable but not all that flavourable. I’d happily drink it again but it wouldn’t be my first choice.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
fantastic beer in some respects - the malt flavour is excellent and there is a great balance here between oily and spicy rye, toffee and bitterness. the element i dont like (and most aus breweries seem to love) is the galaxy hops. dirty heavy overripe tropical fruit and an odd tomato flavour that competes with the malt in midpalate rather than expanding it out into the finish. potential here but the syrup and fruit win over the malt and bitterness.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
640ml bottle. Pours cloudy orange amber with rocky off white cream head. Excellent lace. Nice hoppy aroma, galaxy hops shining through backed by the genuine cascade citrus grapefruit notes - excellent caramel sweetness backing the hops also with a touch of spice from the rye. Generous hop flavour, rye character comes through, albeit not too spicy as the malty caramel comes through - its altogether blending, not over the top, but satisfying nonetheless. Light-Medium body, medium bitterness acecentuated by the rye. Spice and hop flavour lingering well through the lightly sweet finish.
