COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rare Breed #4 is out and about. Now. It’s a Rye IPA, kinda same same but different to our regular IPA, but we use 20% malted rye in the grist in addition to malted barley. Rye gives a rich nuttiness to the mouthfeel that complements the big hit of galaxy and cascade hops that follows. On the nose it’s all fruity hops – tropical and zingy. The palate is full, bitter and rich – the rye helping out with this. It clocks in at 6.1%abv, 60BUs… Available at McCoppins, Slow Beer, Blackhearts & Sparrows and other discerning beery stores. Hope you like it!

27-AUG-2012, bottle @Papsø. Hazy orange with huge off-white head. Funny metallic, iodine (blood-like), soap. High carbonation, bitter, but not really an extreme IPA... ...other than it is very strange though quite tastefull.

Glad to have the opportunity to try this one but it didn’t live up my expectations. Perhaps I don’t care for rye beers? The malts were pronounced and it was not nearly as hop forward I’d like. Very drinkable but not all that flavourable. I’d happily drink it again but it wouldn’t be my first choice.
