This one’s come about after a couple of summers playing around with aromatic, hoppy and sessionable ales like Skipping Girl and Goldilocks. There’s plenty of malted and unmalted wheat in the grist make up, and a big burst of fruity Nelson Sauvin and Motueka hops on the nose. For the tech-heads the numbers are: 20BU, 7EBC, 4.7%ABV. We’re also pretty pumped to have packed it in a 375 ml can, for all your outdoor summer thirst quenching requirements.

From can in shaker. Very light golden hue with a burst of fruity hops on the nose. Quite lively and refreshing, hints of grapefruit remind me a bit of Fresca. Very nice for hot weather.

BB 18/05/16. Poured a clear pale straw colour with a two-finger white dense foam head that retained OK and laced OK. Carbonation low and medium. Aroma subtly of nice tropical fruits - grapefruit, passionfruit, possibly pineapple, possibly melon plus sweet malt. Taste of pineapple, passionfruit and subtle grapefruit; nice flavours; subdued bitterness (there but not over-powering). Light body. Crisp, fresh with a lingering slight but nice bitterness on the finish. Quite nice!

From a can. It’s pretty much as you would expect, light, fresh, crisp and sessionable.

Crack.... loads of passionfruit and pineapple leap out of the can. Flavour is lots of tropical fruit which dies quickly into some slight biscuit. Great refreshing carbonation. Designed to drink by the 6 pack on 48 degree days.

Can. Semi hazy golden beer with a large white head. Aroma is fruity with notes of caramel, citrus, peaches, tropical fruit and wheat. Flavor is fruity with notes of gooseberries, citrus, peaches and tropical fruit. Well balanced.

Not much for the eyes, bright hazy straw colour with a bubbly head that does not stick around. Orange prominent on the nose. Taste is crisp, carbonated bite, dry, typical characteristics of nelson. All in all, nothing overpowering or outstanding, perfect for the muggy summer days.

Nice one MG, for a Golden Ale i reckon the aromas are pretty darn good, they shine through as they should. I dunno? there have been some appalling ratings for this beer, maybe they,re rating against a AWCIPA or their palate’s are over cooked on them, shit, put six Golden/Blond ales side by side and then have a go! Good beer full stop.

375ml can into schooner glass. Wow! Mad passion fruit/ peach aroma. Smells amazing. Maybe pineapple. Cloudy with minimal head. Tastes more subtle, slight fruity zing. Dry short finish. It’s all up front with this beer. Nose-WHAM! Taste- OK. Finish- oh it’s gone. Really interesting.

375 ml can. golden with frothy head. Hoppy aroma, grapefruit hop flavour and little bitterness. A decent summer quencher.
