COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Coal Black and creamy smooth, this beer holds a light tan head and is surprisingly light in body - so it wonít fill you up. Thomas, WVís heritage was based on the hard-working Italian coal miners who worked the mines from the 1890s-1940s. The tap handle is the silhouette of a local coal minerís daughter.

Dark black pour with a tan head. Strong roasted barley character in both aroma and taste.

UPDATED: AUG 20, 2016 In can, poured black with quick foam fade. Smell of grain and roast.flavor is a light roast with coffee and chocolate bitters and chalky aftertaste. Pretty sure the miner dropped some coal in.

RBSG 2016 shared at the Grand Tasting. Can. Medium/dark brown, odd perfumey aroma. Palate features thin roast with slightly sour character. I appreciate the state tick, but Iím beginning to see why West Virginia isnít known for its beer....

Sampled at rgsg. Do not know who brought this but there is was on the table and no one had taken a sip. Poured jet black with a tan head. Nose of roasted malts and not much else. Light to medium in body which was surprising considering how black this was Flavor shows chocolate and some coffee. Quite OK.

Can. Dark pour with tan head. I guess some light malt aromas. Flavors are super light, light roasted, maybe a touch of sweetness. Lacking body.

Can, thanks to Weihenweizen. Dark brown with faint reddish tint, large spongy beige head, roasted malt aroma, high carbonation, slightly sweet mocha taste, medium thick body, longish dry finish. Not bad, a bit weak.

Pours brownish black, finger of tan head. Aroma of chocolatey malt. Sweet flavor, hints of toffee. Smooth mouthfeel.

Opaque black color with some subtle red notes. Big frothy beige head. Looks nice. Moderate intensity in the aroma. But it had a nice hop profile. Medium body and an average carbonation. Good balance between sweetness and bitterness. Roasted, herbal hoppy and coffee. A nice meal for a miner.

Many thanks to Travlr for another state and another rate. Minerís Daughter is one those state ratings that gives you the satisfaction of letting you think youíre truly drinking something that represents the region from which it came. Coal mines - doesnít get much more West Virginian than that. The label art seems appropriately old-timey. Minerís Daughter pours black as soot. Aroma is redolent of cream, oatmeal, and roasted malt. Flavor has bittersweet chocolate, coffee, and toasted sugar. Thereís also a mineral characteristic I canít quite place. (I joked with HuskerTan that it was fitting to have mineral elements in a beer inspired by miners.) Overall, smooth and very drinkable.
