Aroma is roast, chocolate, and coffee malt, oats, prunes, figs, raisins, and earthy hops. Flavor is dark malt, oats, dark fruits, light hops, medium bitterness and a dry finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

Draft pour. Pours a darker brown with a grayish head. The aroma has charcoal and musky nuances. How appropriate. Tastes mildly earthy and bitter.

Draft sample at B&D Gastropub. Pours black with dark brown highlights and small head. Coffee aroma, medium body, medium carbonation, and medium lacing. Taste is pretty nice roasty.

darker than porter, inky with thin cream head, heavy lacing. richer than porter, more chocolate and bitterness, coating. Nice bitterness through the finish.

Draft at the Morgantown location. Pours a clear dark brown color with a medium sized tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of sweet malts, mild chocolate notes and something reminiscent of coconut. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, very faint hops. Thin bodied. Not terrible, but too sweet.

Opaque, brown-black with small pale khaki head and good lacing.
Aroma of chocolate, dark fruit, raisins, light smokey roasted malt and mild hops.
Taste of roasted malt, chocolate, toast, pine, citrus and dark fruit.
Medium/light body and medium/high carbonation.

On draft at the brewery. Pours dark cola with a tan head. Roasted nuts in the nose. Toasted malt with a bitter finish.

pour is dark hazy honey brown. Nose has nutty and caramel malt with a floral green hop balance. Taste is sweet, loads of caramel, lightly nutty, faint citrus, hop sweetness, herbal and green with light peppery spice and lingering bitterness. Body is syrupy, decent carb, fairly dry in the finish.

Flavor is roast and caramel malt forward with some supporting dark fruit esters and faint hops; creamy, dry finish. Medium body, low carbonation, and low warmth.

Tap at the purple fiddle. Pours dark brown with little head. nose of dark malts and cocoa. tastes of chocolate, cola, oats, and light vanilla and pine. a touch too thin and watery with not a lot going on. but i very much enjoyed my time at purple fiddle enjoying this brew.
