COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Historically, we’ve released Cherry Dip Stout for Valentine’s Day, which is a version of our Chocolate Dip Stout with cherries added, but this year we’ve decided to try something new. We’ve collaborated with Jeff Griffith and Mike Lawinski from (the very soon to be opening!) Fate Brewing Co., in Boulder. Cherry Chocolate Fate is a foreign-export with an addition of cocoa, sweet cherries and tart cherries.

Dark dark brownish amber with a thin light khaki head. Aroma had some cherry candy tones and a little chocolate maltiness with a gentle whiff of roast. Flavor is much more assertive than the aroma with very flavorful tones of sweet cherries and milk chocolate sweetness, with a slightly bitter and/or lactic twang of something sour yet sweet. Gentle roasty tones compliment the sweet chocolatiness while bringing back that tart cherry tone.

Tap at Vine Street - fizzy pour - full carbonation in the mouth, just a little rough - flavor is fairly acidic up front, with a lot of tart cherry flavor (bordering on sour) - develops mild sweetness through the middle, but the sour cherry dominates throughout - cocoa is barely noticeable - tart cherry skin finish - this one is a fail.

On tap at Vine Street Pub. Pour is deep brown with a small tan head and decent lacing. Roasty, earthy, faint cherry, a touch of vanilla, wood, and cocoa in the aroma. Taste is toasty, somewhat bready, earthy, a touch of grass, sour cherries, with a lightly tart finish, albeit a touch bland. Thick mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Decent stout, but my least favorite of the night.

Tap. Pours dark with tan head. Smells very chocolatey. Tastes very smooth, easy drinking stout, hints of fruitiness, chocolate upfront. Not much of a finish. Good.

At southern sun. Pours a dark brown with a finger of fine tan head. Good retention and some lacing. Aroma is cherry with dark malt background. Smells more like a fruit beer than a stout and certainly doesn’t smell the way it looks. Flavor is tart cherry up front fading into mild dark mildly roasted malt. Hints of chocolate but very mild. Finishes with a bitter and cherry aftertaste. Cherry flavor dominates. Soft carbonation, medium-light body, mildly watery texture. an interesting stout, though the cherry is a bit over the top. Not really doing it for me, but an interesting attempt to blend flavors. Rated a little higher than usual considering I am not a huge fan, but good effort.
