COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ciel Lumineux, our newest belgian beer to hit the tap wall! A pleasant citrus american hop aroma complements the dry and phenolic character of the Orval yeast strain. A beer as refreshing as a summer rain.

TAR (2436) - Lafayette, Colorado, USA - MAR 17, 2014
Multiple snifters at Vine Street Pub and Southern Sun in 2012: Cloudy blonde. Sustained collar of foam encircles a broken center. Pleasant nose of perfumey phenols, lemon cake, dried mango, gum, tangerine pith, and scallions. Fairly resinous, as well, with hints of plastic, sulfur and lemon balm. Soft pinpricks of carbonation. Somewhat tackily resinous upfront, though a sweeping surge of plastic- and honeycomb-charged phenolics and peppery notes cleans things up. Pils malt generates a well-textured crackery brittleness as well as a sturdier cakelike dimension. Center is somewhat stark, and potent notes of scallion and resin obscure much of the delicateness, though a dab of gum partners with the softer malt textures to salvage things. Exquisite tang of lemon and brisk herbs merges with a softer splash of tangerine and soothing florals. Alcohol is nary a factor. Malt remains dry, clean and haylike. Finishes with a vivacious phenolic pizazz, though the high-alpha hops, which teeter on the edge of oppressively resinous and citric, overshadow the commendably dry and snappy pils malt. Belches beautifully with flowers and soft citrus flavors. The aroma isnít exactly characterful or rustic (to my nose at least), but as with a handful of Belgian goldens produced by this brewery, with a few minor tweaks this could be very good. While I admire the clean and refined bitterness, the hops are a little too brutish/pinesappy for my palate. Would benefit from a more prominent Brett character, but at least itís adequately phenolic. Quite sulfury, too; perhaps overly so. Would really love to see this bottled, as it would serve the brett well, while of course enhancing the mouthfeel and appearance. Purty solid.

Draft at Vine Street with Moreau and Andrew. Pours a bright, hazy orange body with light white lacing. Aroma is yeast, spice and pepper. Mouthfeel is thin with notes of lemon, spice, pepper, yeast, bitter grapefruit and herbal notes that seemed a bit odd. I wasnt a huge fan of this one.
