COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We just introduced Dropkick Stout to Mountain Sun drinkers in late 2009. A true American style stout, Dropkick hits you head on with a strong dose of roasted barley, followed immediately by citrusy and resiny American hops. Unlike our Trickster, dropkick is not a hop bomb, but it does feature a healthy dose of hop bitterness and flavor. At 6.5% ABV, Dropkick is a sturdy but drinkable stout.

Tap. Black body that is maroon on the sides when held aloft with a grey brown head. Smells of light roast wit a bit of honey and light chocolate. Nice balancing roast flavor with a chocolate back bone. Good moderate hop levels. A go to when it is on to satisfy my stout needs

Brouwerij (920) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - NOV 28, 2012
On tap at Mtn Sun. Pours a very dark, opaque brown, nearly black, with a half finger of light brown head. Good retention and lots of lacing. Aroma is roasted, malty, caramel/coffee/dark chocolate. Slightly roasted and nutty up front, quickly fading into a mild citrus hoppiness. Finishes with stronger malty, roasted tones with hints of coffee and cocoa. Moderate carbonation and a medium body. A tasty and rich but drinkable stout.

Dark black pour with thin tan head on tap at Vine St, aroma brought notes of nice rich cocoa and charred malts, hints of espresso bean as well with a slight dark fruit note before getting the resinous hops come through. Taste is fairly well put together, nice bitter pine and resin up front into a sweet caramel, chocolate and slight dark fruit with a roasted, hoppy finish that go well together.

Tap @ the brew pub. Pours a dark brown with an off-white head. Nose is coffee, cinnamon, milk chocolate, and a hint of licorice. Flavor is similar with milk chocolate really coming through with the coffee and leaving a hint of licorice around. Interesting medium-bodied stout.

Tap at Vine St. Pours opaque with a medium, fizzy brown head, medium-long retention with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (coffee, chocolate, roast), average hops (floral), and light esters (fruity) with notes of tar, prune, licorice, and leather. Flavor heavy malt (coffee, chocolate, roast), average hops (floral), and light esters (fruity) with notes of tar, prune, licorice, and leather; hoppy finish. Medium body and carbonation, low warmth and a dry finish.

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2011 Tap at Pearl Street location. Deep coal black appearance with a large brown/black head. Chocolate roasted malts and not much else in the nose. Smooth dark roasty body with hints of espresso and chocolate. More full bodied than most of their other beers. Overally bitter.

UPDATED: MAR 30, 2011 On tap @ Southern Sun Brewpub. Super black, no light shines through the glass. Dark tan rocky head. Smell is overwhelmingly roasty, but comes with milk chocolate, and a touch of almond extract. Taste is stouty with roasted malt and barley being the prominent flavors. Chocolate is there, but only subtly. This is more hoppy than I prefer my stouts, and it ends up being, well, a little too hopped. Floral and more bitter than sweet. More of a black IPA with roasted malts than a Stout. Not bad in of itself, just not my thing. Kudos to the brewers for creativity, though.
