On tap at Mtn Sun. Pours a dark brown with a finger of coarse tan head, decent retention and some thin lacing. Aroma is mild thanks to nitro head, roasted malt, dark malt, slight coffee. Flavor is sweet oat and caramel up front. Finishes with tones of roasted malt, roasted oatmeal, hints of coffee and cocoa. Soft carbonation, medium body, and a very smooth texture provided by the nitrogen. A tasty beer, flavorful but drinkable.

Tap @ Southern Sun. A bit cloudy, dark brown/black appearance with a light brown head. Quite roasty malty, somewhat burnt, oaty, espresso aroma. Somewhat charred, burnt malty, mild chocolate, black coffee, char flavor. Ok.

notalush (4910) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUN 17, 2012
Tap at Vine Street - slick-looking, nearly headless dark brown - nose is of string char, black malt, dark chocolate - a bit acidic up front, which adds on odd fruity dimension up against the strong char, burnt cocoa, licorice and chocolate - a bit thick in the mouth - medium bitter and strongly roasty finish - okay - needs some work.

draft. dark brown with a light brown head, average retention. dough, burnt crackers, small amount of oatmeal, light char and a dusting of cocoa powder in the nose. medium body, medium sweetness, medium+ bitterness, medium acid, slightly coarse carbonation and grittiness. black patent char and burnt licorice with straightforward chocolate malt throughout. a bit simple and rough and could do with some polishing.

On tap at Southern Sun. Black with a lasting khaki head. Wonderful aroma of chocolate, slight tones of coffee and a nice smooth oatmeal tone. Just an amazing aroma. Taste is nice and full with a lasting finish, but on a tamer medium body. Nice chocolaty tones with a sweet and smooth oat tone, very mild coffee and very mild licorice tones. Quite nuanced and wonderful with deep malty tones and a richness that somehow is all balanced.
