This is a very complex beer. I think this is actually a braggot....I think that means they use half malt and honey for the fermentables. Ask the brewers, they will know. This is a really well done brew that has lemon grass and "Cannabis Hops" according to one server. It’s nice and hoppy but not as pungent as their other brews.

Draft @ Mountain sun. Nose is light alcohol and heavy on lemon and honey sweetness. Flavor is a sweet, boozy mess. I couldn’t taste anything but the boozy honey with a strange astringency late. Not their best effort. As it warmed, the heat and marshmallow sweetness was pretty offensive tasting and was eventually sent back.

Tap at the brewpub - I quite liked this one - unlike most braggots, the mead adds a nice honey flavor, without adding too much sweetness - the floral, herbal, wheaty character of the beer remains quite distinct, and compliments the honey character quite well - alcohol is warming, but not overpowering - actually quite refreshing for its strength - a bit of apricot and lingering herbs - very good.

10/10/08 at the Boulder pub. One of the best beers I had while in CO for the GABF. Nice spicy citrus aroma. Slightly cloudy light orange/amber. Tangerine and spice in the flavor along with touch of grain and honey. Nicely balanced with medium body and mouthfeel. Really nice sweet tangerine finish.

Why was I under the impression that this was a tangerine fruit beer? It’s cloudy and hazy orange with a creamy fine-bubbled silky tan head. You can certainly pick up the honey in the nose, only it’s more like fuzzy skinned apricots and peaches blended with honey. Flavor-wise it’s less of the honey character and a lot more of this dry marshmallow and prickly tangerine. Overall it’s wonderfully refreshing and very delicious. A little too sugared towards the end makes it likeable in small doses, but other than that I’m a fan.

Draught. Medium high creamy off-white lasting head. Hazy amber body. Sweet honey mead aroma and flavor with a nice hops bitterness. Low carbonation. Long bitter aftertaste.
