Fresh citrusy and grassy hop noes, sweet bubblegum and belgian yeasty notes. Pours pale golden, nice head and lace. The flavor is up front bitter hops, nice floral, grassy and lemon flavors followed by sweet belgian yeast, clove, and bubblegum. Lasting sweet/hoppy finish. Solid.

Sampled @ GABF! Peach colored pour with a 1/4 ivory head. Definitely a more malt-foreward IIPA with lots of caramel, honey-baked biscuit and toffee both in flavor and aroma. Candied tropical fruit. ABV was hidden extremely well. Tasty but not what I was looking for.

Tap at Mountain Sun. Pours clear amber with an average, fizzy, cream colored head, medium retention with lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, hay, straw), heavy hops (floral, pine, citrus), average esters (apple/pear), and notes of pineapple. Medium bodied, medium warmth, medium carbonation, low creaminess, and a dry finish. Flavor is average malt (cookie, caramel, meal), heavy hops (floral, citrus), average esters (apple/pear), and notes of peach.

Crushed at BSAF 10. Interesting beer. Decent hop profile in the nose and flavor. Belgian yeast doesn’t really help. Didn’t find anything really special in this one.

(Draught) Pours a lightly hazy orange body with a medium white head. Aroma of grain, herbs, grass, orange, pine, and Belgian yeast. Flavor of citrus, Belgian yeast, toasted grain, herbs, and grass.

notalush (4173) - Denver, Colorado, USA - APR 24, 2010
Tap at Southern Sun - a lovely belgian-inspired IIPA - it is hard to detect the belgian influence in the nose, but there is lovely, semi-sweet notes of orange and citrus preserves, with a bracing, earthy hop bitterness to temper it - despite the sweet nose, the flavor is rather dry, and the hops create less of a citrus character than they do a mellow white grape flavor - the belgian yeast adds subtle phenols that work with the bitterness of the hops, and add a kind of toastiness - the hops become herbal and almost minty in the finish - a faint touch of fusel alcohol in the finish as it warms is the only minor flaw - quite nice.

Draught. Golden orange with light haze, frothy white head. Aroma is sweet Belgian yeast, citrus/pine hops, lighter caramel. Hoppiness is subdued from sweeter yeast. Nice palate, crisp though not too light.

sample at Mountain Sun on 4/9/10... deep golden color with a nice white head... sweet Belgian yeast aroma with some lingering citrus hops... medium body with orange, coriander and sweet sugar... lower in bitterness than your typical IIPA... the Belgian yeast really shines through this one and transforms the beer into something very tasty.... sweet finish...
