3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught at Southern Sun. 8 oz. sample. Beer was a hazy, medium, tawny-gold color with a white, frothy, mostly diminishing head. Nicest of MS’s IPA’s. The aroma was pretty—clean, floral and fruity. It was malty with moderate notes of toasted grain and sweet caramel; Hoppy with a moderate notes of herb, resin/pine and flowers; Yeasty with a trace soap note; Miscellaneous notes of moderate green apple and pineapple. The flavor was moderately bitter, moderately sweet, lightly acidic and trace salty with a long, grippy, moderately bittersweet, lightly acidic finish. Slightly salty all of the way through. The body was medium, the texture was velvety and the carbonation was average.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This is truly great stuff. Powerful and pungent aroma, of grapefruit and pine needles. The flavor is a little more earthy than I expected, with some great fruit flavors lingering throughout. Has a kind of tea like consistency that kind of sits on your palate and lingers and lingers after each sip. Nice!

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Juicy, fruity aroma is packed with orange blossoms, lemon, lime, grapefruit and pineapple. Clear golden body with a very low ring of white head that diminishes completely. Simple and sweet up front with some tannins, some citrus and floral notes and a fair balancing bitterness that keeps from cloying but it is generally fairly boring. Medium light body with rather low carbonation. Sampled on tap at the brewpub with ClarkVV, Olivier_MTL and Rastacouere.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Slight white ring covers the hazy orange body. Heavily juicy nose, avoiding any malt notion to concentrate on limey, herbal and floral hops that bring forth a spicy pineapple note that dominate the flavors. Oaky and tannic in mouth, it remains quite citric, fairly astringent and tea-like. Light-medium body, acidic bitterness. Not a favorite..

I love this beer. I’ve had this on many occasions after good hikes in the flatirons and just making happy hour after 14’ers. This is the more dry hopped version of their IPA’s...Illusion Dweller is much more sweet. This one has a cloudy appearance but good lacing. Aroma is orange blossom and grapefruit...which lasts through the last sip. Bitterness is just right. I took a few 1/4 barels to Moab this year and even after the trip’s leftovers it was some good drinking "hop juice".
