4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Aubrey (3347) - Bellingham, Washington, USA - SEP 30, 2009
Draft: Hazy orange hue with a nice head. Sprightly up front, smoother toward the finish. Great balance between the cakey-sweet malts and the flowery-spicy hops. Great hints of white pepper and lemon. Some biscuity-yeasty-earthy flavors in the background. Finishes with a lingering, peppery bitterness that’s slightly drying. Surprisingly enjoyable combination of an earthy-yeasty Belgian ale married with a classic American pale ale.

Tap at Vine Street - burnished copper color - frothy, lasting head - this sucker is wonderfully dry, with a crisp bitterness, and a strong finish of toasted grains - very light belgian yeast esters and earthy character - some spiciness in the finish compliments the toasty qualities - light, crisp, refreshing - quite nice.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 alagnak (467) - Littleton, Colorado, USA - SEP 23, 2009
Draft @ the brewery. Nose is subtle yeasty bread and light sugar with backend of bitter, citric hops poking up there. Flavor is a good mix of the belgian yeast and sweetness (and a very light funkiness) that blends into the crisp, dry american hop profile to finish. Well done blend of the styles. Was easy to roll through a few of these.

On tap @ Southern Sun brewpub. Coppery light orange in color. White bubbly head, leaves quickly but leaves a good cap. Smells of fruits like banana, apple, and apricot. Apparent lemony hops. Taste is fruity sweet, like a blend of malts and apricot or peach. Hoppy enough to fulfil hoplovers, but is also flowery and sweet. Subtle yeastiness. Somewhat chewy texture. A nice blend of Belgian and American Pale styles. Very very drinkable.

mountain sun, boulder. nose primarily of ginger, candy sugar and juniper berries, with lighter notes of sweet and floral garlic and soapy/floral yeast esters/dough. some hint of mint or green apple noticed nearer to room temperature. rich body full of sugar, somewhat crystalline and caramelized but not to a level I would describe as burnt. surprisingly clean throughout, and crisp with a mild sweetness in the finish after it dried out across the back. minerally hop bitterness. excellent beer from mountain sun.
