on tap-pours a tan head and black color. Aroma is coffee-dark malt. Taste is coffee-dark malt, oatmeal, creamy. Nice.

Draught at the brewery. Beer poured a nearly opaque, dark brownish-black color with a tiny, frothy, light-brown, mostly diminishing head. The aroma was heavily malty with notes of roasted grain, chocolate and coffee; moderately hoppy with a note of resin / pine; lightly yeasty with a note of cellar; moderate miscellaneous notes of wood and distant campfire-like smoke. The flavor was moderately sweet, lightly acidic and lightly bitter with an average-length, lightly sweet, lightly bitter finish. The body was medium, the texture was watery-to-velvety, the carbonation was lively and there was a lightly astringent feel in the finish.

Got to love this one. Strong malts and hard hitting stout sour/sweet anise and coffe grind pungent punch in the mouth. I was imperssed and pleased that I had something this good after the weak wheat offering I had here.

Aroma filled mostly with roasted malt with notes of fresh bread and chocolate. Flavor leans toward the sweet side ó chocolate, sweet malts. There is a slight bitter aftertaste. This stout finishes dry. Medium body, crisp.

Roasty and biscuity malts vie for the noseís attention with a strong nutty character. Clear brown body with ruby highlights is topped by a decent tan head recedes slowly to ring. Roasty, chocolatey flavour with some earthy and leafy hop character and a lasting sweetness that lingers in the aftertaste. Medium body with fair carbonation. Sampled on tap at the brewpub with ClarkVV, Olivier_MTL and Rastacouere.

Diminishing off-white head covers the deep, soily brown hue. Restrained malt nose, fixing its ideas upon almond and anise features, but avoiding the usual stoutish flavors. Mellow cigary earthiness, red wine fruits and sour cream complete the flavor profile. Atypical, but not necessarily better. Very sweet example, medium bodied, fairly carbonated.

Tasted in Boulder at the Mountain Sun brew pub. Colour is reddish black, thin tan head. For such a small abv there is an alcohol smell along with a sweet licorice aroma. Flavour is sweet, roasted caramel flavour with a licorice tasting ending.

Draught. Pours dark brown with a thin creamy tan head; creamy lacing. Dark coffee and chocolate with fruit hop aromas. Dark chocolate and coffee body with a hoppy end. Dark and full bodied palate.

Caught this one at the tail end of stout month. It was as black as the midnight sky. Creamy, chewy texture. Big roast up front. Sweet malts (milky-sweet) take over quickly, though. Grassy, earthy hops show up toward the finish and carry with them a little bitterness. Finishes dry and roasted. Pretty good stout, but just a little too sweet for me to really enjoy it.

Light roasted aroma. Very creamy, milky body. Taste is roasted but fleeting. Dry finish.
