Diminishing off-white head covers the deep, soily brown hue. Restrained malt nose, fixing its ideas upon almond and anise features, but avoiding the usual stoutish flavors. Mellow cigary earthiness, red wine fruits and sour cream complete the flavor profile. Atypical, but not necessarily better. Very sweet example, medium bodied, fairly carbonated.

On tap at the Southern Sun Location. Poured a dark black color with light red edges and a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, roast, vanilla, and light smoke. Tastes of chocolate, roast, and some dark fruits.

Head is mostly diminishing. Body is black. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted grain, chocolate), lightly to moderately hoppy (resin, grapefruit, apricot), with notes of vanilla and cherry. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, velvety/creamy texture, lively carbonation. A bit too acidic for me, but nice overall.

Roasty and biscuity malts vie for the nose’s attention with a strong nutty character. Clear brown body with ruby highlights is topped by a decent tan head recedes slowly to ring. Roasty, chocolatey flavour with some earthy and leafy hop character and a lasting sweetness that lingers in the aftertaste. Medium body with fair carbonation. Sampled on tap at the brewpub with ClarkVV, Olivier MTL and Rastacouere.
