hopdog (9059) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 7, 2008
On tap at the 2008 Strong Ale Festival -Im putting my rating here, on the list as The Nihilist Imperial Stout-. Poured a dark balck color with brown edges and a small sized off white head. Aromas of dark fruits, chocolate, and lighter roast. Tastes of dark cherries, chocolate, roasty, and coffee.

sampled on tap at the San Diego Strong Ale Festival Nov 2008, an event share with what seemed liked hundreds of ratebeerians and enjoyed mostly through a straw, since my face was a bloody mess of scabs and stitches. Poured quite dark with a thin head. aroma was smoky. flavor was bitter choclate with some cofee and smoke. finsih was smooth and bitter with noticible but not overpowering alcohol.

SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - DEC 17, 2007
On tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a brown head. Rich chocolate aroma. Very very strong beer. High test ethanol. The hop bitterness blast finishes big.

BBB63 (6122) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - DEC 4, 2007
2007 PP SAF VIP Session: Opaque with small tan head. The aroma has notes of chocolate, smoke, grains, grassy hops, fruity and woody. The taste starts with rich chocolate and fig with a sharp bitterness in support. The finish shows some coffee and smoke. The mouth feel is smooth and lush, creamy, alcohol very well hidden. A very good brew, solid Imperial Stout.

On tap at PP SAF with too many RBeriens to list. Thick tan creamy head. Great creamy mouthfeel. Lots of flavor. Delicious. Why do I love this much more than everyone else? Oh well.

PP Strong Ale Fest 07. Pours black with a tan head. Little to no nose. Taste is sweet with some coffee and almost no body. 9.9% is hard to believe on this one.

I can’t have this beer without thinking of Marge Simpson yelling "Usurper!" to Becky, Otto’s ex-girlfriend.

On draft at the brewpub. I did not take that many notes on this one but my wife’s mom’s comments were spot on, “This is better than my medicine”. Is the one comment that really sticks out. If I have any thing to say about it, I’d say significantly better than medicine. While not the most complex Impy I’ve ever had, I did find it extremely drinkable and tasty. Great combination of sweet and bitter hop dryness. Also pleanty of coffee. An oily mouth feel with a dry finish. I’d recommend it.

rich dark chocolate aroma with a touch of milky sweetness, creamy body, lots of roasted malt flavor backed by lots of dark chocolate, touch of sweetness brings out the chocolate, just enough bitterness for balance, a totally different beer fresh at the mothership

UPDATED: OCT 27, 2007 On tap at the 10th Annual San Diego Strong Ale Festival: Pours an opaque black with a thin, wispy light tan head. Aroma of slightly smoky and sweet dark caramel malt has some dry earthy character. Body starts sweet and malty with a touch of dark fruit complexity and hoppy bitterness toward a drier, slightly warming finish. Needs a little more balance.

On tap at the brewpub on 10/14/07: Just seems fuller in flavor and aroma than the previous sample. Good complexity and sweetness.
