A big bodied pale ale chock full of extra goodness. Extra malt, extra hops, extra yeast, and extra love. They don't call it "The Crippla" for nothing.

On tap at vine Street Pub. Pour is golden orange in appearance with a small white head and decent lacing. Biscuity, grassy, somewhat earthy aroma; a touch of orange peel and bread. Taste is sweet fruits, biscuit, straw, grapefruit peel, grass, and citrus with a touch of caramel on the back-end and a medium bitter finish. Medium body with high carbonation. Damn Decent APA.

Draft at vine street. Pours golden with a thin white head that leaves only a But of lacing. A bit of floral on the nose but it’s faint. Hop flavor on the finish but it feels a bit cloying. Finishes with some solid bitterness. Solid but not as crippling as I was hooing for.

Minimally hoppy aroma, but quite yeasty. Deep golden in color. Very malty with a light earthy hop finish. Hoppoer than the aroma suggests. Notes: Pub visit during ’09 GABF

Tap at Vine Street - came here hoping to catch the Dirty Dark - they were out, so I just grabbed a pint of this - I’ve had it many times, but never rated it - great go-to beer for this place; much like their Java Porter, it is always solid - a sturdy, but crisp malt base gives just enough heft to support the citric bitterness of the hops - orange, lemon ring, pine - medium bodied but still quite refreshing - yup, they do hoppy beer right here.

On tap at pearl st, poured nice hazy yellow with nice white head. Aroma had notes of lemon, citrusy orange, some biscuit and earthiness coming through with a slight pine background. Taste is nice and citrusy, lemon, orange and grapefruit notes are balanced by a pine bitterness, some sweet biscuity malt to back it up, finishing smooth. Very nice.

On tap @ Vine Street. Light yellow orange, slightly hazy appearance with an ivory head. Grapefruit/orange citrusy, slightly piney hoppy nose. Creamy, smooth, citrusy, slightly piney hoppy flavor with a nice pale malty body. Piney hoppy aftertaste. Smooth, delicious brew.

On tap at Southern Sun. Hazy, cloudy orange tan. Fluffy, small head. Balanced malt/hop aroma, shows a little alcohol depth. Truly captures the American Strong Ale category, not really an APA. Deep, fruity malt depth. Solid bitter hop balance. Somewhat syrupy and thick, but still has some freshness. Resiny. OK, but a little rough around the edges.
