JaffaHawk23 (27), Broomfield, Colorado, USA Mar 16, 2008 Not the greatest tasting stout I’ve had but the mouthfeel was very smooth and silky. the appearance as good as any great stout. Nothing distingtive about the flavor and taste. just a good stout that looks great.
waolsen (1051), Littleton, Colorado, USA Oct 6, 2007 tap at brewery. opaque with thick foamy tan head. coffee grind, nutty, roasted malt aroma. bitter coffee, dark chocolate. roasted coffee bearn. bitter. Aubrey (2625), Denver, Colorado, USA Feb 5, 2006 Murky and deep dark brown. Somewhat thinnish body, relatively speaking (not bad, but not what I expected). Some chocolaty flavors and roasty aromas, but nothing jumped out. Some sourness (kind of lactic). Herbal bitterness. This stout was OK, but its flavors and aromas didn’t appeal to me. Unfortunate, because I really like Yonder Mountain String Band. Mountain Sun regularly does much, much better than this beer. BeerandBlues2 (2630), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Feb 5, 2006 Draught at Mountain Sun. Pours dark brown with a tall foamy and creamy tan head with spotty lacing. Dark roasted chocolate malt (meal, toast) and yeast (sweat) aroma. Flavor is dark roasted caramel malt, medium bitterness and acidty, low sweetness, coffee notes. Dark bodied and thin palate. luckygirl (1212), Longmont, Colorado, USA Feb 4, 2006 On draught at the brewery. Beer poured a nearly opaque, dark-brown color with a small, creamy, light brown, mostly diminishing head. The aroma was malty with heavily roasted grain and a moderate notes of chocolate and caramel; a trace of pine / resin hops; lightly yeasty with a note of leather and sweat. The flavor was lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter with an extra-long, moderatly bitter finish. The body was full, the texture was velvety, the carbonation was soft and there was a moderate alcoholic feel in the finish.
