BBB63 (3681), La Porte, Indiana, USA Apr 27, 2008 Bottle and served in standard pint glass: Thanks to who gave me this at DLD so I could finally rate a West Virginia beer:
Clean golden hue with a small but lasting frothy head and good lace. The aroma has notes of mild grassy and citric hops, wet pale grains, a hint of crystal malt and some butterscotch. The taste starts sort of twangy and mildly bitter with a dose of pale sweet malt in support. A light peppery spice upon the finish. The mouth feel is lively and has a papery finish. Okay, better than expected.
bacummings (8), Alabama, USA does not count Jun 4, 2008 Very clear, golden color. A bit bland flavoring, but a strong Hoppy bitter aftertaste, although it doesn’t stay on your tounge too long. kcmo19 (14), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA May 17, 2008 Updated: May 21, 2008Amber color with very little head. Smells of grapefruit and caramel. Thin body and not much carbonation. A little bitter and tastes of citrus and toffee. Overall it’s a pretty good beer. ChainGangGuy (1463), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Apr 29, 2008 Appearance: Pours a very clear body with just a hint of gold to it. Tiny white head dissipates quickly.
Smell: So light! Just a hint of steeped grains and a mild citrus character.
Taste: Again, so light! Slight taste of grain with a subtle toffee sweetness. Mild citrusy hops. Medium bitterness. Lightly bitter, watery finish.
Mouthfeel: Thin-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: It’s pretty embarrassing. Poor West Virginia. jcwattsrugger (3757), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Apr 13, 2008 12oz bottle-pours an off white head and slightly hazy gold colr. Aroma is citrus hops, yeast, secondary grain/medium malt-caramel. Taste is earthy/citrus hops, yeast/biscuity, secondary grain/medium malt-caramel/butterscotch. A bit homebrew/small micro character. OK carbonation. Thanks decaturstevo for sharing.
