strangaj (215), West Chester, Ohio, USA Dec 21, 2007 Not great, but not bad. Fairly well balanced and plain. Sticks true to the flavor of an oatmeal stout. I wouldn’t turn this one down
MtStateBeer (61), Hurricane, West Virginia, USA Nov 30, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours a black color with a very small, quickly disappearing, tan head. Aroma is mainly malts, a bit grainy, roasted, a touch of molasses, chocolate, and coffee. A slight hop nose. Flavor is roasted malts, coffee, and a bitter chocolate finish. Mouthfeel was too watery. Overall a decent beer, nice Irish-style dry, kind of bland, just too light-bodied for a stout. LinusStick (1596), Moon Township, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 5, 2008 Blah. A very boring dry stout. Aroma was weak. Slight dark malt with not much else and you have to struggle to get. Pour was a boring and disappointing near black with no head or bubbles. Taste was mildly bitter with deep roastd malt but very thin and unexciting. The carbonation was a nice suprise and puts this beer above it’s nitrogenated cousins. nearbeer (1388), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Aug 7, 2008 12 oz. Opaque black with a small head that settles to a a lasting film. Aroma is coffee and ashes. Flavor is coffee with sour cream, chalk and mesquite char. Maybe a hint of cherry. Light-medium body is watery, tingly with carbonation and finishes chalky dry. decaturstevo (1335), decatur, Tennessee, USA Jul 12, 2008 Coffee and sour malt on the nose. Dark black pour with tan head and lace. Black coffee and toasted malt and a decent bitter finish. A bit watery and thin. Pretty basic driner like a basic brew pub beer just a bit bland. sleepylopes (281), New York, USA Jul 7, 2008 little to no head and minor lacing on this dark brown beer. Faint roast and black bread. Thin and not acidic but it finishes like a coke.
