MrManning (1429), London, Ontario, Canada Jul 27, 2008 On tap at Moxie’s on Wellington Road in London, ON- Light transparent amber pour. Head is frothy leaving some lace. The nose is mild bready caramel malts, some hops, a touch of grains. Tastes a little sweet of caramel and some cereal grains. A bit of bread crust comes into the finish and is added to with a bit of lingering bitterness. Slightly creamy and only a touch better than the lager. dkazuk (224), winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Jun 14, 2008 On Tap in Wpg.
Clear amber beer with a small off white head. Sweet bready aroma. Sugary Caramel taste. Thin beer leaving a slightly sticky feel. low_g (93), Scarborough, Ontario, Canada May 12, 2007 Updated: Dec 26, 2007Had this one upon returning to the Scarborough Town location. Had a good steak, so figured I’d try the other Big Life beer, this time the Amber, to go with it. Not bad, came to me in a tall frosty glass with a small receding head. Colour was dark amber, almost brown, a little sweet smelling/tasting for the style but I had no problem with it; the finish was hoppy. This is pretty much a slightly better version of the Grasshopper ale that I’ve had before. Again not bad but not what I was expecting. paco (203), Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada Apr 1, 2007 Tap. Blah. Sickly malt odor. Not amber. No real distinct flavor. Corny, malty, gross? Over the top carbonation. No aftertaste just unsettled carbonation. presario (2392), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Mar 22, 2007 Another way for big Rock to serve Warthog. Light brown colour. Somewhat malty. Maybe this beer is better than Trad or maybe their lines are cleaner than the place I’m stuck with Trad.
