3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz bottle. Rating #97. Dark brownish/red pour with a tan head. Sweet chocolaty aroma with a light roast. Flavor had a big roasty bite, a bitterness that stuck around for a good while, dark chocolate bitterness big time. (2255)

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours crystal clear dark reddish brown color with a nice 1-2 finger light tan head with good retention that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty glass lacing, with plenty of carbonation streaming up. Aromas of caramel, chocolate, light coffee, roasted malt, toast, nuttiness, and light herbal hops. Nice and well balanced aromas with good strength. Taste of chocolate, caramel coffee, roasted malt, toast, nuttiness, and herbal spiciness. Light herbal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, chocolate, roasted malt, and herbal hops on the finish for a short bit. Fairly dry on the finish. Nice balance of flavors; but a touch on the watery side and not as robust as some porters I have had in the past. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy mouthfeel. Very smooth to drink; with no alcohol presence at all as expected for 5%. Overall this is a nice, enjoyable, and very drinkable porter.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 oz bottle. Pours a clear moderately dark brown body under a thin fizzy light brown head that faded pretty quickly. The nose is pretty chocolaty with some lighter coffee, roast, and a bit of hoppiness. The flavor is a bit on the weak side for me though. There’s not a whole lot of depth to it. It’s like a cross between a porter and an Irish Stout, given the roastiness that comes out in the flavor. Light bodied and a little too watery in texture for my tastes. It’s not horrible or anything, just a little weak.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
A very good porter. A pleasing sour note upfront gives way to a roasted coffee middle with a long bitter aftertaste.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: OCT 12, 2013 Aroma is espresso/chocolate and an underlying coffee bitterness. The flavor is malts, coffee/espresso, some chocolate and an acidity/tartness in finish. The mix of chocolate and espresso in this worked very well in the flavor.

Bottle thanks to fata2683: Poured a black with tan head. Aroma is a gritty chocolate. Taste thin with grain and chocolate. Leave a dry dirty finish.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22-oz Bottle. Not much head but starts dirty-sandy foamy mostly dissolving in a minute with lacing that covers for a second but rusn too thin to be impressive over a coffee-colored, translucent body. Aroma is mainly roasted coffee but has notes of sweet chocolate and toffee and sugary malt. Taste is mildly sweet. Finish is mildly bitter. Effect is chocolate. Palate is a bit thin and light-bodied but refreshing with so many heavy beers out. Overall, very well-balanced and worthy of session and casual sharing - what a porter should be.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark with a tan head. Tons of chocolate and coffee flavor along with a thick palate. A good porter which compares favorably with their Imperial Stout.
