2.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bomber bottle and served in Bells snifter: Pours a muddy brown with a initial big but quickly fading tan fizzy head, spotty lace. The aroma has notes of walnut, coffee, roast and chocolate along with herbal hop and some prune esters with a sad Diacetyl tones bouncing aboot. The taste roasty and grainy with a moderate fruity twang leading to a coffee and light hop bitterness, some butterscotch notes as well. One dimensional and frankly a bit boring. Adding to the underwhelming character is the overly carbonated and thin bodied nature leading to an aspirin like finish. WOW, major disappointment with this beer. The sessionable character does not make it all that enjoyable.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber from Brews. Pours dark brown with ruby highlights. Off brown quite foamy head, with more consistent carbonation than I would expect from a porter. Aroma is chocolate with cocoa powder, slightly vinious. Taste is chocolate, cocoa powder, some coffee, licorice and a bit nutty. Bittersweet, thin-to-medium thickness that ends quickly. Seems a bit one-dimensional without the roast malt depth. Very nice flavor, just carbonated and thin.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Serving: 22 oz. bottle from State Line Liquors. It pours almost black with a tall, tan head of foam. The nose on the roasty side with a slight nutty underpinning and a bit of coffee. The flavor is many roasted malt with a slight fruitiness. This one comes across as a bit one dimensional. Light to medium body with a bit too much carbonation leading to a medium, roasted finish. This one has a bit too much carbonation for my taste, but it’s not bad overall.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from State Line Liquors in Elkton, MD. Dark brown pour supporting a short khaki head. Aroma of lightly roasted coffee. Lots of dry bittersweet chocolate and coffee up front with a bit of butterscotch and nutty notes. Texture a bit on the thin side. Mildly bitter, mostly dry finish. I was expecting a little more from this one. Not bad at all, just underwhelming.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at Alchemy. Near opaque black, some red stained glass corners. Thin, steady beige head. Creamy. Sweet, classic Porter aroma, chocolate toffee. On the fuller side of medium bodied, relatively middle of the road, perhaps a little more hopped up. Smooth, some coffee tones. Solid Porter.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours dark brown with ruby red highlights, a dense tan head and very nice lace. Strong roasted coffee aromas, accompanied by molasses, sweet chocolate and cashews. Enough bitterness in the flavor profile to offset the predominant chocolate and coffee sweetness. Smooth mouthfeel, low carbonation, and a finish that is all coffee and chocolate.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Strong, oily aroma fills the nose with molasses, sweet chocolate and nuts. (And I am nuts about porters - haw haw haw!) It pours a luscious sable that is opaque save at the very edges, and the frothy beige head is rather persistent. Flavor has firm coffee, nutty and sweet chocolate tones with just a hint of caramel. Texture is fairly smooth and leaves a soft but appreciable tingle on the lips and tongue. I recommend this to porter fans.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Served from a 22 oz bottle from BevMo. The appearance is a medium dark brown with a big disappearing while lacing tan head. The nose has some nice oatmeal and medium roast malts. The flavors are a medium bodied medium roast malt with some darker coffee/ espresso notes. Good milk chocolate and cola flavors as well. The mouth is medium bodied with a moderate creaminess and overall clean.
