22-oz Bottle. Not much head but starts dirty-sandy foamy mostly dissolving in a minute with lacing that covers for a second but rusn too thin to be impressive over a coffee-colored, translucent body. Aroma is mainly roasted coffee but has notes of sweet chocolate and toffee and sugary malt. Taste is mildly sweet. Finish is mildly bitter. Effect is chocolate. Palate is a bit thin and light-bodied but refreshing with so many heavy beers out. Overall, very well-balanced and worthy of session and casual sharing - what a porter should be.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark with a tan head. Tons of chocolate and coffee flavor along with a thick palate. A good porter which compares favorably with their Imperial Stout.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the Davis Beer Shoppe. Looked pretty good upon pour. Very dark brown in color. Nutty flavor, but very thin bodied. Just left a little too much to be desired. I actually bumped up the rating 0.1 because I have a daughter named Chelsea.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Black pour with massive very dense sustainable light tan head. A little tart lactic acid nose. Roast and hints of coffee with more lactose it seems like. Reminds me of a homebrew quality I come across sometimes. Bitter dry finish. Maybe I’m just not digging this style. I do love dark beers, but this one isn’t for me.

On tap at the brewpub. It pours dark brown with a dense lasting tan head. The aroma is sweet chocolaty mocha and coconut. The flavor is very roasted with hints of cocoa, raisins and coffee/charcoal in the finish. A little light on the palate.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Bevmo: Created a thick formation of fluffy yet fizzy foam head. Has a rich chocolate and dark roast malt aroma that assured me that this would be a flavorful beer. The flavor is sweet and bitter and reminds me of cocoa powder or powered chocolate milk, but there are also notes of roast coffee bean in here as well. This is a tasty porter and it’s a relief to see that Moylan’s finally released a new beer.
