Pours a clear deep mahogany with clingy-lacing off-white head. Has a lightly sweet dark caramel and grainy with a touch of milk chocolate. Body starts with average fullness and a light malty sweetness with some light toasty nutty flavor before a slightly drier muted finish. Pretty smooth and drinkable, but uninteresting.

Surprising aroma! Definitely getting a touch of lactic, alongside coffee and cacao. Taste almost imparts a slight butter note along with the coffee and lacto. Medium body with just enough carbonation to give the beer a lightness (along with the 5.0% abv). Interesting beer!

22oz.Bottle: Aroma of milk chocolate, malt, light caramel, light lactose, and some oats. Poured very dark brown/cherry wood in color with a medium to large-sized, creamy, dense, tan/light brown head that diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Lightly sparkling. Full of small particles throughout. Flavor is light to medium sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of roasted malt, chocolate, espresso, lactose, oats, and a hint of sugar. Medium body. Lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Roasted malt, chocolate, light espresso, light lactose, and light oat finish is light to medium sweet and lightly dry.

Bottle from Bellingers, Jet Garage, Grove, Nr Wantage, Oxon, consumed 10.12.10 Pours dark brown with a beige head. This is a little dry with some sweetness intertwined with a fairly safe roastiness, a little cofffee and dark chocolate and gentle sour fruity twang. Ok A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

22oz bomber from Spec’s. Pours a dark brown body with a bubbly, lasting tannish head. Aromas of roasted malts and an odd vinous offering. Sort of lacto sourness? Flavor has that lacto sour up front and then has some bittersweet chocolate, roastiness and day old coffee coming through. Medium mouthfeel. I suspect a poorly handled/stored bottle. However, having purchased a tremendous amount of beer from this Spec’s location, I sort of doubt it. I’ll try another, from another store and re-rate in the future.

Bottle @ Friday Night Ulfborg Thing. Thanks to J&C. Pours dark brown nearly black with a small creamy beige head and lacings. Nose is heavy toffee and caramel. Flavor has again . .toffee and also a bit of roasted coffee and mocha notes. Medium and smooth palate. Could get cloying if I were to drink a whole bottle by myself.

Bottle. Virtually a black beer with a strong light brown head. The aroma is lightly roasted, and the flavour is roasted with a vinous, malty and bitter flavour. Overall a reasonable strongly roasted porter.
