COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a rich, robust porter, cleverly crafted to integrate the aromas and flavors of espresso coffee malt and bitter-sweet chocolate malt. Inspired by owner Brendan Moylans’ daughter Chelsea, this is an American-Irish Style Porter that dark beer drinkers will love

Foam disappear rather quickly but leaves a nose with hints of roasted malt and espresso. Taste is bitter and sweet at the same time. Overall a fine and robust porter

On draft (nitro) at Cato’s, Oakland, CA. Dark black brown with creamy light brown head. The usual nutty burnt porter flavors on nose and in taste: coffee in particular, chocolate, caramel. Reminds me a bit of Anchor’s, not quite as full as the Smuttynose (two touchstones for me w.r.t. porters). In sum, a lovely robust porter, very good if not quite the top tier. Especially worth trying if you catch it on draft.

Sample at Nordic Brew 2014, Fredrikshavn, Denmark. Black beer with a decent beige head. Cocoa powder aroma, milk chocolate, caramel, roasted, licorice, some soot. Roasted cocoa powder flavor, chocolate, caramel, coffee notes. Good but a bit too much focus on the cocoa powder.

It pours black with a medium bodied tan head. There are aromas of espresso, coffee, and a tinge of sweet chocolate. There is a complex mix of espresso and chocolate. It has a sweet-bitter combination on the way down.

"simply put...a huge surprise and one of the best American porters out there. big chocolatey aroma and flavor, a ton of roasted malt, and enough hops in the back to notice, all without being a huge ABV beer. Well done! had it on N2 and Co2...great both ways but on nitro...holy crap!"

9/11/14. Bomber from Colin. Pours black w a tinge of red with a two finger mocha head. Chocolate and fruit in the nose. Wonderful dark cherry and chocolate flavor notes. Thick mouthfeel that belies the light alcohol. A stout in my book but a great beer in any case. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

650 ml bottle. Pours a pitch black colour with a small beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, some cream and grass. Rich flavour of roasted malts, coffee, bitter chocolate, cream and bitterness. Medium bodied and a creamy mouthfeel. Very soft and rich.

65 cl bottle.
Pours dark brown, almost black color with a large beige head. Malty and dark chocolaty aroma, some faint coffee notes as well as some citric fruity notes. Chocolaty and toasted malty flavor, faint cocoa with some caramel notes. Strong carbonation, somewhat bitter and dry palate, a bit thin body. Nice, but I was expecting a bit more.
