Aroma is espresso/chocolate and an underlying coffee bitterness. The flavor is malts, coffee/espresso, some chocolate and an acidity/tartness in finish. The mix of chocolate and espresso in this worked very well in the flavor.

bottle. a muddy brown beer with a small, stable, creamy tan head. aroma is fudgy chocolate like a tootsie roll with a pinch of floral hop. flavor blends sweet fudge, caramel, milk chocolate together. chalky, dry finish. easy to drink with a lightish body for the style and a 5% abv. refreshing dark beer, packed with flavor and drinkable in any season. my new favorite moylan’s brew!

Strong, oily aroma fills the nose with molasses, sweet chocolate and nuts. (And I am nuts about porters - haw haw haw!) It pours a luscious sable that is opaque save at the very edges, and the frothy beige head is rather persistent. Flavor has firm coffee, nutty and sweet chocolate tones with just a hint of caramel. Texture is fairly smooth and leaves a soft but appreciable tingle on the lips and tongue. I recommend this to porter fans.

Bottle. Pours an extremely dark brown with a very small head. Nose has some coffee notes to it, though I don’t find the smell extremely strong. Taste is strong like a good espresso, Nice find.

A very good porter. A pleasing sour note upfront gives way to a roasted coffee middle with a long bitter aftertaste. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

The pour is a dark brown color with and average, pale tan, pillowy, fizzy head which is mostly diminishing and leaves just a bit of scattered lace. The nose is much more intense than the average 5% beer; raisins, bitter chocolate, sweet espresso, dark toast, maybe even hints of molasses and candied dates. The flavor is much of the same with raisins and candied dates, dry bitter chocolate, flour-less chocolate cake, hints of espresso, and some faint dark bread toast. The palate is lively, moderately full, thick, and a bit drying even. The finish is dry with bitter chocolate, dark bread toast, espresso, and just a bit of the candied date notes. This one really surprised me; I was expecting a simple, drinkable, somewhat boring porter, but what I got was a very flavorful American-style beer. The dryness and espresso notes gave a slight appearance of an Irish porter but the other flavors were more similar to a Baltic porter. Other than the average appearance, this one was very good.

Nice nose of chocolate and light coffee. Dark brown pour, nice creamy tan head. Chocolate, roast, espresso, and more chocolate. Smooth creamy light mouthfeel. Lingering light roast and chocolate. Really good.

Nitro at the brewpub. Black with ruby edges and a 1/2 finger beige head. Roasted malt and milk chocolate nose, followed by some chocolate chip cookie notes--not much of the sweetness, though. Flavor does have some sweet lactosey notes along with some light caramel--quite tasty and kind of desserty, as it pulls back quite a bit on the roast. Bitterness peaked at a 2 in the finish. Light carbonation with a medium body. Very good.

Pours mahogany-tinged black into a shaker. Tan head with good retention recedes to skim surface. Chocolate aromas. Dry with chocolate upfront turning to soy and espresso in the lasting finish.
