COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This strong Moylan's brew is what keeps those Irish eyes a smiling. Its deep amber radiance has been described by our brewer as the most visually enticing beer. This ale's rich malty flavor, full body, invigorating aroma, and expansive finish empower it to be extremely satisfying and repeatedly enjoyed. Great Western Two Row Pale Malt, De Wolf-Cosyns' Caravienne and Munich Malts are allied to provide the 1.070 beginning specific gravity, while Fuggle and Liberty hops balance this sweetness. A classic rich and malty ale from Ireland. Unlike most "want-to-be" red ales, Moylan's red has a rich caramel character balanced with a low hop profile.

bottle - This ale is rather one dimensional. It’s all about the roast caramel in the aroma and the flavor. That’s not a bad thing though. It does what it does quite well. Medium bodied with a solid, malty flavor, it’s an enjoyable quaff.

It poured a dark copper color with an off-white head. The aroma was of toasted caramel malts, nuts and some hops. The taste was a little hoppy (dry) finish.

22oz bottle. Rating #243. Clear dark amber pour with a little red and a nice beige head. Very malty with a bit of toast and a little caramel. Toasted malt flavor and a little caramel sweetness. Nice red. (2253)

Bottle. Drank with St. Patricks’s Day Dinner. Pour is an amber red color. Aroma is a little caramel and some hop spice. Taste is pretty subdued. I mostly taste some light, slightly sweet malts. Body and carbonation are pretty light. Tastes lighter than its 6.5% abv. Three hours after my first review of this beer I realized that I still had some beer left in the bottle. After sitting out at room temperature the beer had a more pronounced caramel flavor and I could detect a lot of cocoa in the aroma.

22 oz bottle pours a n almost clear red/orange with a small off-white head and very little lacing. Aroma has bread, caramel. and butter, Average body and carbonation. Taste is neither sweet nor bitter. Hops begin to come out in the long clean finish. Easily drinkable. Nothing outrageous, but I got my money’s worth of satisfaction out of this bomber

22oz bottle, amber-copper color, with a bubbly beige head, soft earthy sweet grainy toasted, caramel, biscuity, bready malt nose with a kind of potato skin, chips, nutty accent, and a faint fuity floral hop note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a mild earthy caramelized, toasted, biscuity, vegetal malt character, with some light candied fruity raisin, nutty sweetness flavors, and some faint fruity flowery hop undertones, leading towards a toasted, caramel maltiness, toffeish, soft fruity, lingering hop bitterness finish.

Tasted at the 2012 St. Louis Centennial Beer Festival from bottle into sampler glass. Poured a hazy, reddish-amber color with average off-white head. Roasty and caramelly aromas with fruity ale yeast esters. Flavor is grainy, very malty, almost cloyingly sweet. Probably a decent pizza beer but not a classic example of Irish Red Ale.

Bottle. Clear red amber body with an average sized white head. Aroma-taste: subtle biscuit and grain with a dry minerally finish. Thin bodied.

On draft at the brewpub. It pours an orangey gold color with a small off white head. The aroma is nice with some caramel, berries, toasted malt, toffee and bread. The flavor has some cooked veggies, caramel and berries. Not real appetizing, plus a kind of weak watery body.
