stoutlover72 (1342), NorCal, California, USA Nov 29, 2008 Quite suprised at how tasty this beer turned out to be. For some reason I’ve always passed it by on the beer shelf while shopping, so this time it’s time was now so we got to drinking it after Thanksgiving dinner.

The beer pours out a slightly hazy, copper/red color, small bubbles with a two-finger creamy white head. The aroma was sweet, with some toasted bread, a touch of caramel and some fruit touches. The flavor was just a notch below in terms of enjoyment. Sweet malts dominate the flavor, with a bit of toasted grain quality to it. No hop quality that I could tell, but that didn’t really matter. The beer was clean, and smooth with a sweetness that had enough character to enjoy the whole 22oz bottle. thejoeshow (167), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA Nov 27, 2008 22 oz bottle. Pours a golden/red color with a moderate head that has ok lacing and a bit of chill haze. Aroma has notes of toasted biscuit and mild hop aroma. Nice and understated nose. Flavor is malt forward with hints of that biscuit from the nose and has a slightly bitter end to it. Not overall bad, but nothing I would hunt out again. The mouthfeel is a heavy also. I would tone it down just a bit. Brewsmith (82), Torrance, California, USA Nov 21, 2008 From a 22 oz. bottle purchased locally. Aroma is malty and plumy. Appearance is a cloudy red with a tiny tan head. Taste is malty, more of the plummy notes from the crystal malt. A little roast in the background. I’m getting some funky notes in the malt, wet cardboard and a little stale tasting. Mouthfeel is thin with very little carbonation. This has to be one bad bottle because I’ve never had a clunker from Moylan’s before. frankenkitty (1834), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Oct 22, 2008 A creamy, yellowhite head holds as a thick film over a hazy, orange/amber/bronze body. Sour milk yeastiness over nuts in the aroma. Tart & bitter flavor, milky, tea bitters, weak bourbon. Improves and sweetens over time. As Carl mentioned, this has a ’’dirty’’ finish with a hint of sugars.
