3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, Liquor World in Fayetteville. Deep brown pour with a nice cap of tan bubbles. Viney molasses aroma, cocoa powder and burned marshmellows. Slighty chalky dry roast flavor with a briney oyster-liquor quality. Pleasant soft mouthfeel with a bit of substance, a rather abrupt finish. For an American bottled beer it is surprisingly rustic and unpolished in character; a good thing in this case.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours super black with barely any head. Aroma is minimal but includes coffee and burnt toast. A mouthful is medium bodied with a watery finish. Easy drinking and delicious with my St. Patricks corned beef dinner. Flavors of coffee, milk chocolate and roasted grain are light.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A darn tasty dry guy if every one made me too shy to cry. Bliggity black with the slightest crimson hints peaking through, an effervescent light tan head atop ’er. Roast malt, smoke, rich dark chocolate, slight coffee, leather and some earthiness tantalize the beak. Taste is essentially the same, big bold flavour with a burnt sweet cocoa taste lingering. This is very dry finishing as expected although I do wish the body was a bit fuller and less carbonated. Overall very solid and excellently enjoyable.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
pretty dark, almost black, with a thick light-tan head that goes from 1-2 fingers to just a hint pretty quickly. aroma is roasted, roasted, roasted. has just a hint of that vegetal quality i only seem to ever get in bottles, which isn’t dominant at all, but prevents me from rating the aroma and flavoe even higher. what is that anyway-some sort of slight contamination? i seem to experience it more with breweries that have consistency issues with their bottles...Sac, Moylans, etc... Anyway, doesn’t take too much away from this tasty brew, which is opening up quite nicely. Dry roasted grain, nut, chocolate, coffee flavor. On the thin side, as the style dictates, but actaully has a nice amount of body to it. Carbonation is a bithigh, so a little swirling does lessen that a bit and smooth things out. Overall, a good beer that’s just a touch rough around the edges."
